I’m confused. I wouldn’t have assumed all of those stickers and a Duck Dynasty seat cover went hand in hand.

LOL Yeah the seat cover and some of the stickers have to go.

Sweet deal. Put lockers in it and go dent it up.

Jealous I couldn't get mine for that cheap!! Great job.

Thanks everyone, I'll do my best to document as I go!

There is a lot of life left in that truck and for $2000 you’ve landed the deal of the day. I’d wager it would sell on BAT as is for $5k.

So I drove the LC home last night which was my first time spending more than 5 minutes in it. Surprisingly everything seems to work as it should. I did find out I've got some kind of radio short because every time I hit I bump the radio goes out. Also, the steering is a little loose but I suspect with a knuckle rebuilt and new tire rod ends it will get better. Also, all the bushing are gone so I will work my way through them as time goes on.

One question I haven't found the answer to yet it how big of a tire will a stock 62 take. The only reason I ask is as I said before the tires on it are on their last leg and will need to be replaced right away. I do plan on lifting it but that is down the road so I hate to buy new tires just to toss them for bigger tires in 6 months to a year.

Also, why does a 62 have the carb fan when its fuel injected?

Thanks, Josh

To answer your question, 31s will easily fit with sagged springs. You can stuff 33s in there but you will find that they will rub when turned lock to lock of if you try to wheel it at all. If the lift is a ways down the road I would invest in some cheaper 31s and call it good for now. Then when you get around to the lift in a year or so you can evaluate where the tires are at and if you want to upgrade after the lift. I love my 31s, 33s would give me a bit of rubber overdrive but it is not necessary.

One of the most important (and should have been original) is the 'Turn off the lights'' note

Yeah I've decided to leave that on just because I think its funny!

Thanks info, that was my thinking. I'm really hoping we trade a cheap POS with good tires I can snag but time isn't on my side at this point.

After reading in FAQ I was reminded about the galley plug so I need to check and see if that's been done. I doubt it has been so that will jump to the top of the list.

So today I was surfing Craigslist and found a set of 31 10.50s free to a good home so I had grab them! It’s some knock off brand that I’ve never heard of but hell you can’t beat the price!

Yes!
Bonus score!
Carb fan is in there, and should kick on after a good run in warmer temperatures. It will shut off on its own when things cool off a bit.
Keep the questions coming if you have them, and don’t spend too much time reading on the $50 mods list! HA!
There’s one in there to take the place of the lights note!
Smiles per mile!

So I've made it through my first tank of gas which didn't take long LOL! So far so good, everything is running and working as it should for the most part. The radio is driving me nuts going in and out all the time so I'll have to figure out how to pull the dash off and see what's going on there. While I have the dash out I'll remove all the aftermarket wiring like fog lights and alarm that the PO installed. It also has aftermarket cruise control which doesn't work so I'll remove all of that. Also, the emergency brake light has come on and stays on now even though the brake is off so I need to look into that. I've already ordered the bushings for the shifter the take the play out of it.

Then it's on the rust control! As I said before the frame is solid except for the reinforcements all the way in the back. So my plan is to cut 19 inches off one of the old Tacoma frames my dealer has in for frame replacement. Once I have that I'll fab it up to fit inside the 62 frame channel. Then I'll cut the rivets out and remove the old reinforcements and replace them with new medal after I treat everything with POR or rust bullet. This will be a little down the road once I have the lift as I'll have to drop the rear axle anyways. My plan will be as I pull things off the fix or replace them I'll paint and refresh items being reinstalled. My wife has really taken a liking to the 62 and wants to drive it some so I want it to mechanically sound.

For the brake light check the fluid level in the master cylinder first, make sure the float sensor in there isn’t stuck.
If that’s not it there’s a switch on the e-brake handle that might need to be adjusted for might be bad. Just have to pull the boot off. I’d check the master clumsier first though.

Thanks so much it ended up being a stuck float sensor, easy fix!

Got a little bored tonight so I started removing the tint. The old tint was starting to come off and looking pretty sad. I’ll work on the rest as I have time, then I’ll get the rears re tinted.

Working on tint removal this morning, any ideas on how to get it off the back glass with out messing up the defroster strips?
