I picked up a 1970 parts truck back in January to rob some parts off of to make my 1967 FJ45 a little prettier.

    6E2A32DA-E908-471A-9832-E7B3B5454AEE.jpeg

I robbed the fenders and the hood that matched my FJ45 perfectly.

I grabbed the perfect horn button off for my FJ40 steering wheel.

I pulled some other missing items I needed and let some others grab some parts they needed.

I’ve had some people want some parts so I’ve been steadily pulling pieces off to the point that the main value left was the perfect little 1/2 doors on the tub and I really wanted to find a reason to keep them

Last week I saw this little shorty trailer on the TLCA Facebook and decided this was the perfect compliment to my FJ45, the Goat

The dude with the shorty was kind enough to share some pics from his build so I think it will be cool

So after getting the engine out it was full on get it

I used 4 Milwaukee Torch blades and 5 4.5” cutoff wheels but I got it.

I had a couple hours after work to polish The turd a bit.

I scraped all the barnicles off and hosed it down top and bottom with a couple cans of rust Converter.

After that set up I rubbed the exposed rust with boiled linseed oil

Working on getting the face plate built by a local place.

Got the tongue box and plugged the already cut antennae hole

I discovered the hot rod “Patina” guys are using it to protect the exposed rust

I have been using it in conjunction with CLR to clean he paint and preserve the exposed rust.

Check out what the combo did for my 1967

I also added some HiLift cargo rails I had to the tub. Cut down the whip.

Also my local @metalshaper is making a face plate out of a floor pan. We are going back and forth now on that.

@beno sent me some OEM shocks for it. I know that sounds silly but the price is right on them and I know they will fit.

@Cruiser Corps sent me a missing spare tire hinge. I’ve got to splash some paint on it

I put some new reflectors on

And I picked up the steel to complete the trailer

My welding friend got sidetracked with a garage remodel so the Goat Tail has been on the side burner.

Today I figured out how to move it by myself so I got it in the shop to do final prep before we weld in the tongue in a week or so.

The Goat donated the 700-15’s. I needed a good spare for the truck so one went under and 3 went on the trailer

    021F3C90-16C3-4902-9B89-DED7353E0DB2.jpeg

I swapped out the hinges after this pic. Hid the pink one on top

17C3C77C-BBD6-4AD2-959A-5A21301F3496.jpeg I got the underside and the bed all clean and treated with Fluid Film

    0D15FACE-A031-43D2-BF05-B9F3E0F7F0E1.jpeg

    Installed the OEM shocks

    45100524-27A1-4E6B-AEF5-4C55462B1AC3.jpeg

Plugged all the screw holes and hooked up the lights together to be wired to the front once I figure out how long the tongue will be

The tube is what I found to move it. It is VERY tail heavy now. Takes a lot of leverage to tilt it up.
