A better way to look at it is that now you've got a choice when you're headed out on a trip. For me, if it's a short trip with just the wife I grab my 425E. If it's a long trip with a larger group I always grab my 426C. And if you have a griddle it will work better on the 426 as the burners are spaced closer together.

Totally understood, but I'm talking about a permanent mount drawer solution, not something that gets switched out. My 425E rides around in my truck 100% of the time:

As an aside, is this 426B too "rare" to haul around in a truck all the time?

I'd keep it like you got it and bring out the 426B when you want to feed/impress more people!

No. Lots around. But the back of your Cruiser does seem like an appropriate place for it.
And, you need to find a 200A lantern or better yet a 242C Lantern to fit inside the stove case.

I assume you've seen this:

Here is an old pic of my 426B, since replaced by a 426C:

And here is a pic of a lantern and stove stand inside the case of the stove-this is why the 426B and 426C are so desirable. Lantern, stove, and stand all stored and safe with no extra stuff to pack.

Yes sir to all points, which is why I have been looking for a 426 for so long :D

Now to find a 200A or 242C and some time to clean her all up!!

$3 for a round tank Coleman stove! That's a good score.

Post up some flame pictures.

Pump plunger
Valves
Inside tank a little
Oiled leather cup up
Put in some fresh fuel

Ha! I think I saw that one on craigslist a week or two back. Thought about it then decided I had too many. Lol. Like that can happen.

Picked up a 220F before my brother & I went to the Grand Canyon several weeks ago. Only needed a clean and new mantles. Would love to find a 426B stove to go with it.(we had to settle for a Bass PRo 3 burner-worked sort of ok)
As for the lantern--after the clean(Carb cleaner and such) it still didn't seem to be as bright as I've seen--Will these lanterns work with alcohol?(maybe it will help clean out the varnish from over the years)

No, don't run on alcohol. Your generator likely just needs to be replaced. They can sometimes be cleaned out, but the pricker needle is very, very fragile, and new generators are only $10 and simple to replace, but your call. In rare cases, the fuel air tube inside the fount can be partially clogged, but that's a more advanced repair. Not hard though so stay with it.

Regarding mantels, the Peerless mantels are stout and hold up, the Coleman ones are junk.

If you were not so far away, I'd offer up my 426B stove as above. But to Florida the shipping would cost more than the stove.

With a new but vintage lantern, you should just as a matter of course, replace the cap gasket and maybe the pump leather. At least oil the pump leather. If you are really ambitious, clean out the fount. Some steel BBs, some white gas, shake till your arms are tired, then really rinse it out(and take out the BBs with a magnet).

At a minimum, with a used lantern fount or stove tank, I always shake some fuel in it and look for debris when pouring it out.

If it has chunks, I'll do the BB ( or sheet metal screws) method above.

When cleaning out vintage motorcycle tanks, I use a length of window sash chain, or ball chain.

Now, this may not necessarily be the best for a small lantern tank, but thought I'd share it anyway...

These are great ideas! Thank you all!!
I do have a replacement generator, so that will be installed.
Thank you to cruiserdrew for the mantel info, and the fount cleaning --
The pump seems serviceable, and the leather is not cracked , so I think that part is ok.

So if you wanted to part with the 426B and send it to Fl. how much would you want?

If you pick it up at my house it's free.

Otherwise, trust me, it isn't worth shipping. You will find one locally. I shipped a 426C to FJ60Cam and just finding a huge box, sufficient packing, and shipping was a huge PIA. I felt so bad about the shipping cost I didn't even charge him the $10 I paid for it. But the stories that one could tell-straight out of the meth lab to Graceland.

It was totally worth the extra 15 years I had to add to my mortgage to finance the shipping!

I just used it last night as a matter of fact.
