Long time lurker first post. Start with this 425 dual fuel I got for 8 bucks at a thrift store yesterday. It’s the newest Coleman I’ve had it’s actually from this century. Works Well but shows signs of having used unleaded gasoline in it. I only run Coleman fuel in these. I’ll clean it up with a Brillo and it’ll be good as new.

But here’s the real find. This was erroneously listed on craigslist kind of the wrong way in verbiage so no one had really seen it. Or at least I suspect. A barely used 1984 Coleman two burner in fantastic shape. For 30 bucks. Even got a can of fuel with it. In the original box. And I got it about a mile from my house. Oh and did I mention it works like a charm. Got to love this old Coleman stuff it lasts in works the same way as our cruisers.

Lastly, here’s the stuff that normally stays in the back of my FJ 62. 1970s Coleman 200A lantern with original rid guillotine box. That one was a craigslist find from Albuquerque. 1970s Coleman 502 sportster single burner stove Picked up locally from a guy that finds these at a state sales and thrift stores. Seriously this fella combs the city. He’s a retired engineer. If anyone has the square aluminum carry case/pot and pan set for this I’d be interested.

Well, the Pretiss Weber is back together and burns great! Not sure if I want to re work the tank; the name is cool, and the check valve doesn’t want to come out easily.

Very jelly of the red case...sigh.

Nice! Same tank as mine. I ground down an old screwdriver just so to get the check valve out. Had to come out as I powder coated.

Can't tell on my phone. Do you drill the leg rivets out to paint then replace with hardware?

Yes, I drilled them out, and powder coated it. I got new hammer style rivets, but as I was wondering how the hell to hammer them from the inside, I used 3/16” pop rivets to assemble today.
I tried a big broken screw driver, but I think I’ll have to make one just for this, as you suggested. Thanks for that tip! Is the check valve the same as a Coleman, or different?
And I think I could go for a new generator or tip, but have no idea where to look for it. Any ideas?

Forgot to reply. See above post.

I think I'm going to drill the rivets out and replace with button head stainless screws - it's not a museum type resto but a user because I like how it runs. The check valve is a little different. It threads in and seals brass on brass. I think there's a spring inside the valve unlike Coleman where the check ball rattles around. I'm glad mine worked because I don't have a clue where to get a replacement.

Yeah the generator tip - I don't know. I was worried mine was oversize. I got some small drill bits and it gages right at .017" I think. This pretty much matches a 425 tip (according to the Coleman generator list. I think I posted a link to the list several pages back in case you don'r have it.) I also measured the pricker needle and it matches the gas orifice dead nuts so I'm good there. But the issue is the threads are different and even female versus male reversed compared to a generator I have for my 413E.

If the hole is oversize guys over at the Coleman forum have suggested silver soldering and re-drilling but I don't know if it would hold up to the heat. Brazing would hold up anywhere brass can stand the heat - but my lack of brazing skills prevents me from trying. I would melt the tip for sure. Good luck.

Great thread! I have a Peak 400A stove and 222A lantern that both leak. The stove leaks under the burner and the lantern leaks under the base plate. Liquid fuel just drips off of both. Any help would be appreciated. Also, what generator does each of these take?
Thanks,

Bob

Go to Old Coleman Parts and they will have what you need parts wise.

My ho-hum contributions to this thread: I think my parents got some of this stuff new and maybe some of it at garage sales; they've moved to trailer camping so haven't used it and I've kinda taken it all over. Love this stuff, though it seems harder to have an excuse to run the lanterns these days with LED headlamps and such. And all our friends have LED lanterns. None of this stuff is that old compared to other stuff in this thread, but it's all older than me.

425E from 2/72, dented but works fine:

I have a 288 powerhouse like this one with the picket fence globe. great running lantern. does drink the fuel though compared to the older ones.

Thanks for the tip. Mike at Old Coleman Parts was very helpful. I ordered the 222 generator but they don't have the generator for the 400A stove. If anyone has another suggestion on where to look (other than Amazon for $194!) it would be appreciated.
