I like the hooks....the list never stops :)

For the lights I'm running 2 lightforce 240's they fit perfect and are super bright. They tuck back into the ARB well or you could mount them upside down from the points on the upper bar. They focus like a maglight--I have only read good things regarding this brand of lights.

Romer do you like the step sliders? Because I am getting either those or the tube sliders from slee. Any opinions? I am ordering them next week but the steps could come right away but the tubes wont be ready for 3 weeks. That is cutting it close to GSMTR.

I like the Step Sliders, They are just as functional and more friendly to others. They are just like running boards for passemgers, and you don't have to worry about the wife or G/F slipping on the tube because it is wet. The surface on the step sliders is not slick and won't get slick when wet.

I just got my step sliders in and they are awfully convenient. The install was a cinch.

Romer-the rig looks great! are you running the ome heavy or med springs?

Medium Springs. Christo advised against the Heavies until I get a winch.

If you're ordering these from Slee Offroad, you might want to check on their availability...I believe I just picked up the last step slider yesterday. I'm sure more will be on the way, but...

How much time before GSMTR for you?

Between this and the Tcase problem, I am tapped out for a while.

Not to hijack your thread, but what is wrong with your t-case?

When I drained my T-case, I found some metal chunks attached to the magnet on drain plug, I was thinking it came from one of the bearing. But I do not hear or feel anything when I refilled the t-case with Amsoil 75W90 Synthetic gear oil.

BTW, your rig looks good with the added bumper.

Don't the slidersteps make you loose clearance, opposed to the tubes?

From looking at them it looks pretty clear that in some situations the tube sliders would clear some rocks that the steps would rub. But if you want steps, the the step sliders look like the way to go. The tube sliders do not make very good steps.

Were they available when I bought my tube sliders, I certainly would have given the step sliders some consideration for my passengers. Being both tall neither my wife nor I have any problem getting in. Short folks and old folks find the step up to be a bit of a chore.

The story of my Tcase is in the following Thread
https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=39514

Couldn't figure it out and took me a while to isolate it to the Tcase. The sound was loud. Your might just be an output bearing problem. Why don't you start another thread and include infor like if this is the first time you drained it, year, etc..

Tube sliders do provide more clearance and tuck into the body more. They are angled up instead of out. I didn't want my wife slipping or getting out. My 40 has a step and they are slick when wet. I have slipped on the 40 step a few times. The surface on these will hinder slipping.

Are front license plates required in CO? If so, Christo has a nice bracket to mount it to the front of the bar...

Actually, the bracket came with the ARB kit. I was just lazy and didn't put it on. Put it on today and took it for a mini snow run :bounce:

Yep, a little as others have already said.

I've had the tube sliders on my rig for almost 4 years now and have had very little problems with people slipping off or with loosing footing myself. I suppose people just need to pay attention when stepping up.

The steps sliders are going on the wifes which will not likely see extreme situations for many, many years...so a little lost side clearance is not an issue for that rig.

So ken-Where's yer winch? Tell the Mrs. all the guys are askin'.

Would it be enough for someone to not get the steps? I mean sliders are meant to protect the body so of course they're going to get scraped on the rocks. Would the steps keep you from getting through certain situations where the tubes would not?

Edit: Also, slidersteps only fit FZJ80's not FJ80s right? It says 93-97 on slee's site and it has the same thing with hannas sliders.

Yes, as far as I know, the slidersteps and tube sliders are available for the FZJ80. I know some have modified these for their FJ80s and others have gone either custom or with other vendors. The main issue seems to be fitting around the cats.

Because of how the sliders are attached and where they physically fit on the vehicle, I can not think of a situation where the sliders -- step or otherwise would keep you from getting through certain situations. On my truck, the tube sliders do not come close to extending beyond the outside sidewalls of my tires.

Anything so tight that stepsliders would cause a problem should probably be avoided in an 80...or at least a different line should be selected.

Update- Finished Front Build Up

Thought I should update this thread. Since I came back from Moab, I added:

Warn M12000 Winch
PIAA 520 SMR Lights
CB Antenna Right Angle Bracket (So I could put it down when I am not using it)
And of Course, The IHMUD Sticker (That was on at Moab)

I decided to go with a 3Ft ant instead of the 4Ft I was running at Moab so I could lay it down. I had unscrewed it, but then the cavity with fill with water or I would have to tape it. Nakman actuall did this first and I copied him. Had to drive across town to get the part though. It was too damn annoying to drive with it up once we were home.

I was going to sign up for ROTW, but all the slots were taken.

You could have gotten the 4' and just welded a tab on the far side of the bullbar. That's cool - I didn't know they have 90 degree fittings like that.

Ken your truck is coming along nicely. Now time for the rear bumper!

How do you like the PIAAs?

Steve

The 4ft would have stuck out about 7". Then if I didn't hit it, people walking by in parking lots would.

Haven't had a chance to use the lights at night yet. They seem fine. Bought them NIB on ebay for $140.

Now I have installed Christo's Rear Bumper. It's difinitely a quality product and I am glad I waited and got this one
