Bringing life back to these 64 Thunderbird tail lights aka Shelby style tail lights. Alittle elbow grease, some polish, and paint and they are looking like new.
Cleaning and painting grille parts and bumper brackets. Got the headlights installed and connected with new wiring. Getting ready to mount the bumper and front valance.
The bumper fitment is ridiculously horrible. It's just loosely bolted on at this point. My grille surround pieces turned out nicely. They are also just sitting there.
I moved on to some easiest stuff this morning. Installed the wiper arms with new blades. I sealed up any random holes in the floor and laid in this heat and sound deadening material.
It was a struggle but the grille and bumper are now installed. Looks pretty good if I don't say so myself.....lol
Cleaned up this wheel which will become the spare. It is fairly rough and pitted but will work as a spare just fine.
Got the door handles and locks installed. They work good. One key to open everything and start this pony.
Digging thru the parts stash I found these door lock knob eyelets (havent found the actualknobs yet), the hood to cowl weather strip, and the chrome export support. I won't installl that support till later so I don't limit accessibility to engine stuff.
Had to take the flap disc to the tail light openings to make the Thunderbird tail lights fit. Their in with just a few screws for now.....till I get the sequential bulbs and the correct screws later. I also got the lock cylinder installed after enlarging that hole as well. Still need to adjust the latch mechanism.
Relocated the horns. Then got the front valance panel installed and lights working.

Looks cool!
Sprayed the rear wheel wells with some undercoating. Covering the old over spray and years of road grime.
Working on cleaning and preparing window parts for reassembly. Starting with the rear quarter windows.
Got the quarter windows loosely installed with new weather strip for the vertical seal. Still need to add the wipers, felts and window stops. Then adjust after door windows are installed. They do crank smoothly up and down now.
I was missing 2 of these window stops. I had an extra set of inner window guides that had a very similar piece on them. So, I removed and modified them to work as the stops I was missing. Worked great. Then installed the outer wiper for the quarter windows.
Got the mirrors bolted down along with more quarter window weather strip.
Working on the deck lid. Installed the Mustang emblem, new bumpers, and the latch. Now I need to glue the weather strip in place. I hate glueing weather strip.....such a pain. Wish me luck....lol
