Went camping with family and friends in Uwharrie NC in November before it got too cold.(I know its all relative for all the Northerners here) Also, this was a last ride for us since the NPS closes the trails for the winter. 2 Nights of camping and one all day terrain association. Day started cold and sunny in the 20's but the wife, kids and dogs were excited to hit the trails. I was driving the 85 and my wife drove the 08 Tacoma. We met a group of Veterans and friends at the annual Uwharrie Veterans Day Ride Uwharrie Veteran's Day Ride at the Eldorado Outpost in Uwharrie/ Troy NC. This was the first real outing in the 85 so I was excited to see what it could do. The 45 minute drive predawn Sat morning was uneventful minus the numbness from the well worn seats and the drone of the MTs humming inside the cab. The 85 was lead vehicle, the Tacoma with the M101A2 was rear security in our 2 vehicle convoy traveling west to Uwharrie. My oldest was too excited sitting co-pilot planning our weekend adventures. He's never been a big electronics kid and has always enjoyed anything outdoors related so this was something that he'd been looking forward to. Following close behind in the Tacoma was my wife, youngest son and our 2 dogs- the Tacoma was packed down with all our camping stuff and treats.

Hi Steer 1.webp
Steering Gear Box.webp
Just got finished installing some Christmas goodies- Marlin Crawler High Steer, TG Steering Stabilizer and a 95 IFS Steering Gear Box. We are headed to Windrock Park TN this weekend. Have leaf springs waiting for install when I return from that trip.

Nice truck man! I think I remember seeing this thing for sale a while back. Definitely looks clean and stoked to see it's progress through Mud!

Ok, so the fam and I drove to Tn to go checkout Windrock Park and yes the whole fam: mom, dad, 2 boys, 2 dogs and even grammie-cause she likes to wheel... Windrock is about a 6 hour trip but my oldest son wanted to drive the 85 and not trailer it so I was like sure lets see what she can do.... Flat roads no problems, downhills even better, but those pesky hills/ mountains in western NC and eastern TN well they aren't too friendly to the 22R. We met up with some friends / stayed at cabin and wheeled for 2 days: 85 Toyota, stock Lexus GX 470, and my friends Jeep with fresh 37s. This place was terrific: 74,000 acres of OHV/ 4wd trails/ downhill mountain biking, RC track, shooting range and a well stocked general store. BTW my word of caution: trail 26 ends in a town called Petros. You don't wanna breakdown there.. this is coming from firsthand experience.
