Builds Texas Tan - Tilda Bogue Service Station

An old college friend calls me and tells me he has an FJ40 that he needs to sell. Lives in Houston. Got a divorce. The thing sits in his 2 car garage.

He’s the second owner. Texas truck. It has some rust but it’s patina rust. Truck is one color which is all that I care about.

Looks like it got the Proffitt Cruiser treatment way back when. Bucket seats, power steering and a very well burned in shackle reversal.

I drove over and scooped it up …..

I got it home. Drive it down the road and back and my buddy Mike called me out of the blue and told me he had a guy he was building a 4Runner for that wanted a 40.

Son of a gun…..I had a 40.

Chad and I made a deal. I had a bunch of great take off parts in house from a project I worked onto the truck and by Easter I had it in Tupelo Mississippi

He gets the truck. Realizes it’s a turd with the old non-rebuilt Aisin and wanted to install a Sniper.

I was covered up with projects at the time so i referred him to my buddy Justin @nvrlose54

Justin did a bang up Sniper install and sent the truck home

Fast forward a year and Chad starts chattering on text about how much the 3 speed sucks.

I tell him, well, yes. Only @landcrusher909 likes 3 speeds.

I guess about august he had had enough and I sent a 4 speed and single case out to @orangefj45 for a good once-over.

I got it back in September and I put him on the books for the swap

October 17th the dern fool up and sends me this

November 6th it’s sitting in my driveway. Never mind the 40. We have a 60 to save

So then we built him a 60 while Texas Tan slowly dripped 90wt and waited it’s turn

After a month of dripping 90wt here at Tilda Bogue time came to dig into this one. Cowboy helped. We got a lot done.

I looked at this thing every way I could to keep from having to remove the seats, stereo, and hump but I just could not figure out a way so the tank got drained and I collected .47 and no empty rifle casings and yanked the transmission hump.

Some maniac put the stereo lines through it. What the everloving hell.
The goal is set though. Moving forward.
