thanks john, just ordered from national wheel and tire, no need to call them because they were cheaper! 30 bucks cheaper. also ordered some wheel spacer too. Just in case they dont fit, if they still dont after that, well nvm im not even going to think about something liek that
 
Good deal, just make sure to check the torque on your spacers frequently, so you don't loose a new wheel.:wrench:
 
Tried starting the parts truck from John but was having a fuel delivery problem with it.Replaced the EFI fuel filter but still no start. So I moved the bed out the way and pulled the fuel pump from the tank. Here is what it looks like.

The tank had more water than fuel in it. I'll try to get a picture of what the inside of the tank looks like but you kind of get the idea from the fuel pump.
 
I know that street that the truck was on flooded during Rita, but know if that is where the water came from.
 
F155 vs 2F

Howdy guys,
So I just picked up an F155 from Shane (Ruthless)... i thought I was getting a 2F but didnt find out until I got there to pick it up. Regardless, its a running motor that I can swap in.

My questions are what are the variations between the 2F and F155? Is the F155 considered an "F" motor when looking for parts??? Any sort of problems that a common with the F155 that I should be aware of?

I did find the info where the intakes are different.

Think I remember this being the "transition" and the oiling is different. Read bout this in the past.

Both are good engines, some folks are not fans of the 155 because of the oil design but if you put good stainless lines or comparable they are just as dependable. I was happy with both of mine. :)
 
does anyone know if the one piece grills from the early 90's trucks will work on my 89.

The 90 - 94 should be interchangeable when the headlight design changed to the bulb replacements 95 on the 4-Runner, 97 on the Tacoma is when the grilles changed. If memory serves right. They had the little plastic tabs you had to push down with a small screwdriver.
 
my dad is going to make me some 1.5" ball joint spacers but im not sure what im going to do in the back to level it out. i dont want blocks. if you look a the pics in my truck work thread you will notice that my rear already sags a little prolly an inch lower than the front.

so should i go with lift shackles or get some leafs and add them to my spingpack?

I'd go with the shackle. With the add-a-leaf you'll get more lift than you want in the rear and it'll make it stiff as hell. If you're riding around with a load alot or towing than thats probably the way to go. On my 86 IFS I went with Downey 26mm torsion bars in the front and 2 inch shackles in the rear. The torsion bars allowed me to adjust the front level when I added the heavy home-made cattle guard. I later had to add the mega travel ball joints for busting the factory ones and it relieved some stress on the front cv-shafts. It was my first IFS truck.

Fill the boot with grease and seal it up with a better clamp. Make sure there is mud stuck in there and drive it until it breaks, but it should be fine looks pretty fresh.

X2 pack with grease and new clamp and you'll be fine. :)
 
lance get a new clamp it takes a special plier to compress it correctly if ya don`t have let me know can bring to meting manana
 
Gear/Speed calculator

UPDATED: Added some things, fixed some things.

Well it is raining cats and dogs out here so I can't do anything outside.

Threw together this gearing claculator together in Excel because I was bored but I think it is kind of neat. I don't remember seeing one to show all gear ratios at once, usually it seems like you had to figure the combined ratio of your transfer case and the crawlbox yourself... well anyway. I hope someone gets some use out of it.

Hardest part was Figuring out how to get it to display in Miles per hour, at first the way I had it set up it kept giving me minutes per mile:p.

The thing I learned from this... If I ever get my dual cases.. that i will be able to go mind numbingly slow:D The set up it has when initially opened is the way my truck is set up now, went ahead and set it up for a sixth gear for the guys with the 6 speed FJ's and Tacomas too. just enter your correct ratios and everything will work.
it wont let me upload an .xls so I put it on my Skydrive Gear calculator.xls - Windows Live SkyDrive

Well have fun :) I am going to see if I can make it a downloadable program so people without excel can use it.


EDIT: I was goofing around with it and if I got a set of M35 axles (6.72 stock gear ratio), I could run 52 inch michelins and my effective gearing would be the same as it is now with my 32"S Wont ever happen but it dont hurt to dream right ;)

I found it really easy to use but if you wanted to, you could easily add comments/ instructions for the fields.

I might just do that. make it so that the first page that opens is the instructions, then have to click on a tab to go to the calculator. What I really wish I could do was figure out how to lock all but the fields that need changing. That way it would be imposible to mess up the formulas.

Ok, I took your advice, now the front page is an instruction sheet, on the actual calculator page I have locked all the areas that do not need to be edited for it to work so there is almost no chance of any formulas getting broken, and I have added one feature. I have put three fields in that you can enter a MPH and it will give you the RPM needed to cruise at that speed.
