Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, but is there a way to modify the F (9/72) engine oiling system for full pressure/flow system? or are there any mods to help the anemic oil system

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is a 74 F transitional motor...I have a Dec. 74......Thanks.
Hi Guys,
I have a '74 FJ40 VIN 179831 (Aug/Sep) with F engine number F554256 (8/74). Is this a transitional engine? I suppose I should know it by looking at the oil setup, but the cuiser is home and I'm at work...
Thanks!
Rob
I've installed a 2F oil pump and eliminated the external regulator on a F.... it all works ok, but you would still just have a by-pass filter system.... nothing gained in filtration.... the pic shows 2F oiling.....
coolerman, do you have more schematic drawings or do you know where to find them?
Exactly what did you have to do to the oil pan to make this work?
Do some trimming on the baffle in the sump to clear the pump........

so this is a transitional F???Yes, that would be one of the last F engines. If the oil filter is on the passenger side of the engine, it is either the transitional F or a 2F.

Nope, looks like the oil FILLER is on the passenger side, not the FILTER.
