Found what the loud pop from Debbie's 80 this afternoon. She managed to break a hub gear and pop the front diff in Sandy. New 300M hub gears ordered from RCV and used 3rd member has been located. More to come. Stay tuned.

If I had been on that side of the truck, I would have told her to winch. She wouldn't have listened to me and we'd still be is the same spot. Team Tolleson needs to learn when to say when.

There was a lot going on at the time, but I'm thinking she was in reverse when this happened. Does anyone recall for certain? The pic of the ring gear suggests that she was.

Also, there was a significant 'pop' before I heard the grinding sound from the diff. I'm assuming that was the hub gear giving out.

I know that reverse is the weak link of the front 8" HP diff, but is there any way that the hub gear failing prior would have led to the subsequent damage in the diff?

Just trying to learn something from all of this...
