During our last meeting, we talked about putting a ride together in the TNF to do the Skyline Drive (600-1 & 600-2). I wanted to put a thread together to get an idea of how many people will be joining.

The plan is to meet up Saturday morning at 9am. Eric @Land Speeder suggested we meet at a breakfast place before heading out. Would you guys want to meet somewhere on 280 like Big Bad Breakfast or Chikfila at 119 intersection, or meet somewhere down in Sylacauga near the turnoff from 280?

This will be anywhere from a 4-8hr day trip depending on how long we stay for breakfast, how many stops we make, pictures etc. Family and pets are encouraged to join. Any stock 4x4 will be able to do these trails, it is more scenic than anything.

Look forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

Would love to but picking up a kid from camp so I won't be there. Y'all have a good trip.

I'll be there, probably with my son. I have never been to Big Bad Breakfast. Sounds good to me but may take a while I suspect. Chick Fil A would be fine too, and there is an IHOP in that area too and Waffle House down around Greystone. I don't know what is available in Sylacauga. Looking forward to it.

Never mind picked him up today. I am in

Frank would agree with you but after rain it was a little more than “scenic” on street tires :grinpimp::steer:

@BamaHeel haha Frank did an awesome job, we were all impressed with the way his LX handled on street tires.

I just got a text from the two other 100 guys we ran into and one of them broke an axle on that trail they turned down before we past them. Glad we all made it home in one piece, it was a great time.

At one point we had 10 trucks with us, it was a better than expected turn out.

Look forward to getting together July 19th at Billy’s with hopefully some new faces and rigs.

Hey guys! It’s Rock! The green LC that saw you all at the end of 600-1. I had such a blast meeting you guys! That trail we turned down at the end was super fun but that broken axle was a little bummer...(yep I’m the guy) lol Anyways, looking forward to hanging with you all more often. Glad I found you guys!!

Was it an aftermarket axle? Rare to hear of a Toyota axle giving up - easiest way I've heard to get off the trail is to pull the front driveshaft.

Paul @pfran42 had a detailed write up of it at one point in the 100 section including the tools needed. I've pulled both and rebooted so let me know if you need any pointers.

Yes, it was autozone special! I’ll check out his write up. It will be good knowledge to have at least.

@pfran42 is a good dude. If you need interior LED's, brighter reverse lights, or better clamps for your CV's (highly recommend if you have twisted up torsion bars) he's your guy. He's in ATL so shipping is quick.

Yeah - it may have been a little more than I bargained for, but today was a lot of fun. The boys have convinced their mother that we went through a 5' deep mud hole. Have had that LX for 10 years and that's the first time I've come close to seeing what it can do. Been lurking on this board for all that time, so good to finally meet everyone both old and new. Thanks for setting it up @Bama4door. Look forward to doing it again soon. Hope to get some new tires in the meantime - and those running boards may be coming off tomorrow . . .

Sucks to hear about the axle @sandrettorock. Hope ya'll didn't have too much trouble getting out of there. Good to meet you and see all the awesome mods to your rig.

It was great meeting everybody today, and that was a fantastic ride! I don’t know who was smiling more, my son or me.

I’m looking forward to meeting up on the 19th at Billy’s.

I’d love to see the video of my Cruiser going full throttle through the deeper stuff we encountered on 600-2. Email is chris.patterson@TerraMotoOutfitters.com

Thanks all, and see you soon!

@BamaCruzer ill get my video of you uploaded to YouTube tomorrow morning and post it.

@sandrettorock i meant to text you this earlier, but the next time you have a front axle or diff issue, you can remove the front driveshaft and then remove the hub flanges on both sides. Just take off the wheel center caps, take off the dust cover, snap ring and the 6 nuts and washers, then remove the cones with a brass drift and take out the hub flange. That will put you in 2wd and the CV axles won’t spin in the front.
