So I'm really wanting an FJ60 love the looks and the uniqueness of them, I live in the country and have a total commute of 4 miles a day. So as far as practicality I think I'm fine, I had a 78 Bronco I drove 20-30 miles a day while in College and I was fine.

The issue is this, I'm 6'5" (but only 190lbs) and never set foot in an FJ60. I've drove an FJ80 and it was fine, being tall there aren't many vehicles that I'm 100% comfortable. So I don't anticipate being able to stretch out in luxurious fashion but I can't have my knees in the dash either.

So, Tall guys is the FJ60 big enough?

I've found one I want pretty bad, but I'm going to have to buy it sight unseen and I don't want to get a huge "Ugh Oh" when it arrives.

Your infinite wisdom is much appreciated.

Plenty of headroom, but the seat will not go back far enough to make it comfortable for you on long trips.
Scratch that itch, grab one, there are solutions to the seat...

Agree with A ^^..

My wife has an 80 and I feel cramped in it, DS or PS.. I push the seat all the way back and recline the seat way back (what I call the "Detroit Lean"). I think there is more room in a 60. I'm 6'-3" and 260#

Well this is good to hear, I've been reading TONS just trying to immerse myself in everything.

I read a few places where TLC in California made a bracket extension for the front seats, but when I go to their site I can't find anything. Does anyone know anymore about this?

Thank you!

Chrysler pt cruiser seats are a popular swap. Buddy of mine is 6'2 and says he now has more leg room.

I am 6' 2" and while I could use more leg room I have been LAZY and have not modded the seat yet, it has only been 26 years since I got it. Maybe next year :)

Dyno

LOL Dyno.

I's a shorty here at 6'2" but don't have an issue in the 62. 6'5" starts to be pretty seriously tall, so try and sit in one before you buy.

The seat brackets are dead simple so it should not be hard to fab up a solution that sets it back an inch or so.

There are many seat options though, so don't get scared off if the fit isn't perfect.

6'4" here on a good day. have had 3 different fj60's. very simple and cheap mod is to use a piece of flat steel, maybe 1 1\2 inches wide and may need about 14 inches long. remove the seat and attach the seat to the flat bar, then attach the flat bar to the oem seat rail mounting it so the seat sits a little further back than original placement. you will loose 1\2 inch of head room (no biggie there). i gained at least 1 1\2 to 2" in leg room.

Glad I'm not the only little guy here

I too have pt cruiser seats in my 60 they are comfy but a bit taller I have to duck getting in. I'm 6'3" 290. Once inside super comfy I can mod the bracket to reduce height.

My fj62 was ok but my hj61 was the beat. It had a different rear bench that was split so it let me push the front seat further back. Much more comfy. Plus it was the vx model and the seat was nice.

Another good friend of mine is 6'5" he worked for profits in utah and he extended the stock bracket and loves it.

Maybe that 'custom' bracket could make it onto your list of fabulous fab work options, J.

I'm 6'3" and fit in a 60. Like Dyno, I've been considering a seat mod since 1991. Head room with a hat is fine and leg room is OK but the stock seat isn't tall enough to offer whiplash protection. The headrest only comes up to the base of my skull. There is no lumbar support, kind of like riding in Mork's Egg.

I am 6"6 and 305 lbs and the stock seat was very tight for me to drive and shift gears. I had classic cruisers make me extended oem seat brackets for $150. Still only put my 2 inches back but it helped some.

I installed Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo seats and they bolt up in 3 of 4 places. They have longer tracks, and slide back another 1.5" further than the OEM seats. They are also more comfortable.

I'm 6'5" (long-legged), 240, and sat in the 62 (stock interior) that got me started on this LC quest today. I fit fine. I didn't ride in it for 12 hours, mind you, but I found it to be near sitting in my '69 GMC pickup. In fact it was a little better as the steering wheel was farther away, not to mention adjustable. In the past week I've sat in and driven an 80 and a 100 as well. The space prize goes to the 100- plenty of room for me all around. The 80 was the loser- I was too scrunched up and the instruments seemingly in my face- so I cant say I was cramped, but it felt that way with the dash so close (perception is everything). All things considered, the 62 suits me best- things are close without being cramped (80), not "busy" with a multitude of switches and buttons (unlike the 100)- simple controls, and good space (I don't see a need a need for longer tracks just yet). However, the amount of room would not be confused with a full sized pickup (the 100 does approach that, though).

Admittedly I've been used to folding and unfolding myself into and out of cars for, well ,decades- I'm pretty conditioned to interiors on the small side also, so YMMV. Some of it may come from what sort of vehicle you're used to- although I use a company Dodge Caravan for 99% of my driving (free to use, you know...)

As an aside, I was driving a Jeep Liberty for a few months waiting for the van to arrive. Everyone (including me) hated it, thought it uncomfortable- cramped, no good place to put your feet. After I drove it for a while, it felt pretty OK- had to get acclimated to it, I guess.

Only 6'1' here but I test fit a set of rodeo seats and, while they are an easy swap, I found the extra couple inches in height made me feel more cramped and looking out the top of the glass. Was bummed because the color was a good match and the driver seat had 6 way power adjust on a 2 wire connector. I am hoping the PT cruiser seats mount lower.

6'3.0060" tall and 199.925# here ;):flipoff2:. i get most of my height from my long torso, not my legs. Stock seats in my rig. One thing to consider is if you're driving with the rear bench folded down, while the whole seat still does slide back all the way, the reclining portion is limited because it hits the folded bottom of the rear bench. Can't low ride. It sorta adds some lower lumbar support if you squish the seat on the bench but it's not my bag, that lower lumbar support. I move the whole seat forward one or two clicks and gain more recline-ability. Back to Cruisin with arms straight! Well, close anyway. Buy a 60!!
