Talk me out of buying UTV tires for my FJ40

Why are you considering this versus buying off-road truck tires? What is the perceived advantage of a UTV tire? I would agree with others statements that they likely have much softer tread compounds. I was touching some Maxxis Rockzilla 35's this weekend, and they are very, very soft. Other than that, I don't see any benefit, the larger UTV tires are just as, or more expensive than similarly sized truck tires.

This 37x10 is about the only reasonable SXS tire that has no LT tire size equivalent, although the 35x10 sxs tires may be much more readily available than the LT options on the market. I thought these 37's were more expensive. The would likely work killer on the rocks on a sub 3k lb buggy/wheeler.

To answer the question why look at SXS tires: more options on the used market. Like a lot of people, I have desires that outreach logical financial reality. New beadlocks AND tires are completely out of reach. So what’s a fellow to do- search the used market. Mr Google shows me that locally there are a fair amount of 35” tires for sale, but generally they are 20” off a Superduty. I’m willing to move up to a 17” rim for the beadlocks, but not a 20”. The SXS crowd is not (yet) gone to 20” rims, so it’s an option. My rig does however tip the scales at 4500#, so maybe this is foolish. (Additionally, the deal on beadlocks got away from me, so back on the hunt).

And that is the long winded answer to why I ask the question.

Understood. I have had pretty good luck buying & selling used wheels/tires off facebook marketplace. May be a bit harder in more rural areas admittedly, but FB marketplace is definitely where to look. Once you search for something a few times, it will start "feeding" you like items in your area that may not necessarily be listed/labeled correctly to show up in a normal search. I scored my 35x10.5 Kanati mud hogs through facebook's algorithm pushing the sales listing to me. They didn't even have the brand or size of tire in their listing, just said "mud tires".
