If you havent tried powdered donuts cut in half, buttered and toasted, you havent lived a complete life. Cam took it to the next level by adding a crisp of bacon grease. We are considering a food truck at the state fair next year.

So, to bring this thread to a conclusion...

We packed up and headed back to civilization to fuel up for the ride home. Rain was in the forecast, so we should have clean rigs when we get home.

The group hung together for a little while until we reached our separate turnoffs.

The drive was uneventful and quite pleasant. The sky was blue, the birds were chirping, traffic was light. I had finished the S-Town podcast and started the Serial series.

I was fully engrossed in the story, when, coming in full blast through the truck's speakers, a FAWKING TORNADO WARNING comes through the phone, the loud annoying tone a complete buzz kill to the peace of the moment before.

FAWK!!!

"Take Shelter Now"

How the **** can I do that? There's no shelter in sight on this stretch of I-22. I figure if I'm going to die, it doesn't much matter if where it happens, so I keep the motor mashed and plow into the storm with everything I've got.

It went from blue skies to hurricane in no time flat. Visibility was about ten feet once I hit the red band, so I just closed my eyes, floored it, and started yelling like Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump.

Neon Pig wouldn't be a bad place to duck for cover.

Indeed, unfortunately many miles of rough seas stood between me and the 'Pig.

Just as soon as it started, I was spit out on the other side, unharmed. The rest of the ride home was uneventful.

.....

Again, I'd like to thank all of the sponsors that made this ride possible. Please keep them in mind for future business. If you did not sponsor this ride, but would like to become a sponsor ex post facto, please contact me, we can work you in.

I'd like to also take the opportunity to bash the LGBBT one more time. That is one ugly sunofabitch.

Having left camp quite a bit before everyone I managed to hit the storm system just as it was dropping tornadoes between Jackson and Bolton.

The wind was blowing from the South but the trees that were falling and the semi that went off the overpass were all blown from the North. As I was passing Brandon I shot a text to @Bodean to let him know I honked and waved and he promptly called me and told me I was insane. Little did he know that I had the full armor of the LGBBT on my side and that there was no way a mere tornado could go up against all that ugly. Hell, I was probably in full blur mode still so radar probably couldn't even see me! It really wasn't too bad except for the lack of visibility and the high winds and the downed trees and the flipped semi. The only bad part was when I was entering the proximity of Bolton and the flags suddenly were hanging limp and the sky was green. That was when it got me a little worried. It soon went back to just a heavy rain and it was gone by the time I got just a little way into Louisiana

When I got into Texas I ran straight into the devastation that the tornado system that had hit Canton and numerous small towns around that area. I20 was shut down so I did some back road driving North and East and the back West and saw first hand what some of the towns had experienced. Pretty powerful storm.
