I have been pricing 3/8" synthetic winch line at southeast overland. Any one looking to upgrade and want to split a 600' foot spool? 150' @$300 each for 4 people including myself. I would make a 75' main line and two 30' extensions. I figure some footage goes into making the loops. Maybe have enough extra for a couple soft shackles. Thimble and an abrasion guard put the cost to $350 ish plus shipping. $500 for the same thing if they put it all together for you!
If any one is interested let me know. I plan on attending the recovery clinic. Hopefully the March meeting too.

What kind of rope are you getting? Check out Atlantic Braids. I think they are a manufacturer and make quality products. I met the president in Vegas at the ConExpo.

I spent 4 hours digging my self out of snow Saturday afternoon. Time to get my winch up and running!
Is any one else interested in going in on synthetic line? I don't have enough people yet. Out of 600' I will take 150'. I had interest in another 150'ish. Post up if you want any length at all. Maybe we can get there. I won't need money up front just a solid "yes I am in".

Yes! I knew I could count on you T.C. $1195 for the 600' spool with free shipping. $298.75 for 150' no hardware. I am too cheap to run a hook so 5 open thimble and the rope protector is about $50.

All right. I will order the spool tomorrow. Everyone need a to figure out how they want to configure their share, and what hardware is needed. I think I'm changing from two extensions to one. So 75' spooled on the winch and a 75' extension. I just emailed Steve @ southeastoverland to see how we can combine shipping on all the hardware. I figured we would order separately and combine for shipping on his end. www.southeastoverland.com
Thanks everyone for going in on this with me.

the main guys at southeast overland are at a wheeling event. I just spoke with the one guy left at the shop, their webstore is pretty simple and uses paypal. so the easiest way is to compile our list and email it. I will do that.
Hardware-for the main winch line we will need, one 3/8'' open thimble @ $8.95. one Drum wrap @ $7.95. one abrasion guard @ $6.65, this may be optional but I think most people run one.
For the extension two 3/8'' open thimbles @ $8.95 each.
$298.75 each for the 3/8'' line. $340.20 each.
A 10% discount may apply to that hardware, I have to wait to hear from steve on that. optional accessories are various hooks and Bow pin/D shackels. I already have shackles I will connect through the open thimbles. if you already have a hook from your old steel line it should connect through the thimble as well.
we will each save about $100 and since we will be learning to splice our own we will have the knowledge to do repairs in the field. i think that is valuable.
on the color of the rope, there is red, green, blue, orange, black, and silver. i dont nessasarily care but, my vote is silver. the other colors seem a little bright.

Silver would be fine for me. My plan is to make a winch line and two extensions. I would need 5 open thimbles, 3 abrasion guards, and one drum wrap. If you are willing to order that with the rope, that would work for me. But if not I can put in the order.

I can't figure out how to post the invoice. T.C. I might email it to you to forward, since you have everyone else's email already. All the hardware was 10% off. 5% off the rope but with shipping. $330 for 150' of line and the hardware to make the main line and one extension. $28 more for @88man for the extra extension hardware. I will send Payment tonight, if any one need anything else let me know soon.

Sound good, @88man I don't know your handle...so pm me and let's make sure we have your info on the roster.

if you guys end up with a extra 40-60' or something in that range I might want to make an extension. Whatever length you have left. We can just price it by the foot kind of thing. I am not really 100% on this but if some one only wants like 90' then this might work out.

Just my opinion. But depending on the size of your winch you might want a little more than 75'. I have a M12000 that does have a big spool. It is nice to have the spool not 100% full. It allows you to let the line spool up "messy" if you are pulling at a bad angle. So I do agree to not run too much line. But remember that you need to leave some line around the spool. So if you have 75' you wont get 75' of line to use. That is all I am saying. Even if it is 85 or 90' it might be nice to have just a "little" more than 75' on the spool.

But overall I agree with running less line on the spool and keeping an extension. That extension line will last along time, mostly be stored inside and see very little use. The line on the drum will not last as long. It will be cheaper to replace 90' on a drum than 150' on a drum.
