Just fine, needs some refinement but mostly minor changes. The rod that connects it to the door needs to have a dual spring buffer so it doesn’t transfer noise into the cabin.Yeah how is this holding up? I want one.

Unfortunately this is a dead thread….Man! I would buy this right now!
It's a real shame. There's a lot of interest from consumers, but surprisingly little interest from actual manufacturers. Maybe if we keep blowing up the thread the OP will get emails and come back for an update?Unfortunately this is a dead thread….
I am by far no manufacturer but this is the solution I am going to try to fabricate as my first metal fab project. Planning on having it screw to the crossmember instead of welding. Something similar to Defender Spare Wheel Carrier - ORE4x4 UK - https://ore4x4.co.uk/shop/ore/wheel-carrier/It's a real shame. This could be a hot seller if the right manufacturer saw it.
Send PM's. They will go to his email, assuming he has the same email, which is something people do not often change. It's a real shame. As someone who enjoys his privacy and time alone, I'm not going to bother him about it unless the comes back here himself. It's not entirely the design that I love the most, it's the idea. In my mind it's the perfect solution compared to a full bumper (which doesn't improve the departure angle unless you give up having a hitch) or drilling through the rear door. Plus almost all of the rear bumpers use sperate latches. I don't want extra steps just to get in my cargo area.Send PM's. Hey Thed351W, I’m still alive, but this carrier is too much work to replicate for me. As I get older my time is more precious to me. During Covid I had a break like most and did a few projects. Now that life has restored to semi normal my time is limited for these types of adventures. As someone who enjoys his privacy and time alone, I'm not going to bother him about it unless the comes back here himself. Don't have to explain that to me, life absolutely changes and sucks away free time. Obviously nobody reasonably expected you to actually start making these, especially after all this time.Hey Thed351W, I’m still alive, but this carrier is too much work to replicate for me. Holding up well, added a brace to it awhile back to eliminate some flex. At some point I will make another version from the lessons learned on this one. Mainly focusing on the swivel point rigidity.Don't have to explain that to me, life absolutely changes and sucks away free time. How's it been holding up?
I assume that you'd move to a double-shear design?Holding up well, added a brace to it awhile back to eliminate some flex. At some point I will make another version from the lessons learned on this one. Mainly focusing on the swivel point rigidity.
This is actually pretty pimpy. I'd still make it swing with the door instead of having a latch, as well as add some additional plating to make it a bolt-on product rather than a weld-on for frame attachment. My only real big gripe is the double heim joint for the hinge. Easy to maintain but I have a feeling that they'd wear out quicker. Not seeing this in the thread but these guys are selling a kit similar to OPs carrier.
