I'm realizing I should start a new thread to gauge interest in making the 3D cup holder files available on line. I need to head to bed. Taking the kids out fishing in the early AM so I will start the thread tomorrow when we get back.

I am going to hold off on starting a thread for gauging interest in making my cup holder 3D CAD files downloadable. I got a handful of mud members that contacted me today with some suggestions. Looks like I need to look into this a bit more before I start poling interest. I don't want to get hopes up until I know I can actually make it happen.

My $5 cup holder. Modified corners slightly to fit. And it's adjustable!

I figured this thread was as good as any for an update on our cup holders. This year was a big year and we had to hire a few more people. Growth is good BUT it's REALLY complicating things. I still have my mechanical Engineering full time teaching job going and my 4 kids aren't getting any less time consuming. We just evolved from diapers to coaching sports and chauffeuring kids around. I have been racking my brain on how I can keep this 3D printing business going but free up some of my personal time. 70-80 hour work weeks are killing me. Lots of changes are in the works for making things easier on me and everyone here at the shop. Were all feeling over worked. We will still make everything in house (No outsourcing anything). I just wanted to give the 80 community a heads up on what changes will effect our 80 Series product line. Our painter used to spend a couple hours each day painting and the rest of the day processing orders and being my assistant. As we have grown in sales and drastically expanded our product line and color options; our painter is now painting all day every day. We have over 25 color options he's dealing with daily. I need him back helping with machines so I'm not doing it all day and night. What does that mean for you guys. As of next month we will no longer be selling cup holders in factory colors. ALL of our cup holders for all models will come in flat black. This will allow us to spray all the cup holders sold each day in one large batch instead of a dozen small different colored batches. We will use a SEM plastic paint that will be super strong and able to take paint over it so if you want to add the factory color to it you can without issue. We also have to find ways to cut cost and this helps. The cost of labor, shipping, packaging, paint, insurance, utilities, has all gone way up in the 7 years since I started this small business. I have not increased prices at any point and I don't plan to. I just have to make things simpler for my sanity, my family, and my employees. I understand this is HORRIBLE marketing. Coming to you guys and telling you I'm taking away options but I just felt like you should know why we had to make those changes. If you want your cup holder in the factory Toyota colors then they need to be ordered this month. We still have them in the factory colors in stock and will continue to make them in the factory colors for 3 more weeks. Starting February they will all go to flat black. Sorry for the bad news but it's a needed necessity for everyone involved. I wont get into the other changes because they don't effect the 80 community. I will update the website soon with new pics of the black versions and will also post those pics here next week. Here's the link to the 80 series product line:

I wouldn't sweat it. Painting is easy enough and the 80 crowd already knows what colors match the oem colors. I still appreciate my cup holders bought from you years ago every time I climb into my rig.

Ditto to what @LC4LIFE said. I've have both of your cup holders for years and is a clean/elegant solution to the problem. I'd have no problem painting my next order! Two comments...1)What might be helpful for folks and preclude a ton of questions, would be to have some sort of color chart for rattle can paint that closely matches the factory colors. 2) Is it even worth painting it black in the first place? I'm assuming everyone here, for the most part, does not want black and possesses the .1  skill set to rattle can paint?

Thanks again!

We constantly use our 7 cupholders from you (well, constantly the front 5 and regularly the third row 2) and appreciate that they were/are available.

I wouldn't sweat the painting either but you may be able to ease the transition by either publishing specific information on where to source good paint easily or by selling small spray cans of the various colors (that you could mark-up to add to profits). I doubt many people mind painting things themselves but sometimes finding the right paint can be time consuming, including potentially painting with a mismatched color or incompatible paint, etc. Making it easy to get well colored and compatible paint would be appreciated I'm sure and worth paying a bit extra for to have it shipped with the to-be-painted items.

In the product description of all of our colored cup holders will be the paint info for the factory colors and where to buy them. I will try to add that info into the product receipt that gets added into the box as well. In regards to painting them black in the first place; they just look better than the glossy finish they are left with after we smooth them in an acetone bath. I don't think anyone wants super high gloss cup holders; at least not in this community. I also want to make sure they are coated ahead of time with a finish that bonds to plastic so if they get painted later, they are ready to go. Many rattle can paints don't stick to plastic unless they are coated properly ahead of time.

For those of you who don't want to read 4 pages of cup holder thread (I don't blame you); these are the cup holders we offer. As you can see they come in the factory colors. As stated in my earlier post today; we will be discontinuing these colors and going to flat black for all cup holders to simplify the process on our end. Just WAY too many color options out there over the years across all the models. It's killing my painter.

I say black looks good anyway. Just glad that you are filling a gap that has obvious need. I make use of your product daily and as long as you keep doing it, we can focus on the other gaps that appear as parts for these start going away. So thanks for the sacrifice and also thanks for hanging in there.

Been a while since I have posted on here. Being Black Friday I'm getting flooded with emails asking if we are running "Black Friday Specials". Unfortunately we are not running a black Friday specific promo BUT the mud discount of 15% is still in effect until the 1st of January. Coupon code "TEQ15". Right now the promo only works on our own website www.bh3dprinting.com We had to cancel it on Etsy and Ebay. We have done everything in our power to fight inflation within our business and get as creative as possible to not have to increase prices and so far we have not done that. The good news is that we have not increased our pricing this year. The bad news is this inflation is a loosing battle on our end. We will be forced to increase prices around 10-15% as of January 1st 2022. Here is the link to our site, etsy page, and ebay product page.

I posted this over on the 60s forum but realized I need to do the same here since I'm getting the same questions. Looks like there has been a new wave of 80 owners rolling in looking for cup holders and I'm starting to get a surge of emails asking if we will make them. Been there, done that. It's partially my fault for not spreading the word and being on this forum more frequently. Some of our cup holders are in pics a couple posts back. This would be a bump for the new guys asking if we will make them cup holders. As you can see newbs, we already do. You can order them on our website, etsy, or ebay.

Looks like the word got out and the newbs now know we already make cup holder for them. I love this forum and it's ability to communicate with the community.

The holiday season is right around the corner and once again I'm starting to get a constant flow of folks asking about holiday sales or Black Friday promos. We are not doing anything specific BUT our mud discount is still available on our website. www.bh3dprinting.com
Use code "TEQ15" at checkout. That will give you 15% off the entire order and still allow for free shipping. Here are some of the 80 series products.

If you want the blue sea accessories plate option instead of a storage tray then let us know and we can ship that option. It will come with the proper holes already pre-drilled and the tray reshaped to perfectly fit the accessories bezel.

What's up with those door speaker spacers?
Those were from the previous owner. It was a bit too "custom" for me. I found some OEM door panels and went all back to stock. The speaker spacers went to someone on here a few years ago.

Just bumping this tonight so I don't get flooded with emails in the morning with questions about Black Friday promos. We are running the same promo as last year at 15% off the entire order plus free shipping. Use coupon code "TEQ15" on our website www.bh3dprinting.com. The only change this year is that we are also running the promo over on Etsy so our international buyers can also jump in on the discount. On Etsy use coupon code "SAVE15" at our etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/bh3dprinting
No discounts on ebay or amazon right now. There fees are just brutal these days.

Thanks for all the holiday orders folks. We have been working hard with extra seasonal staff but we are keeping up and still shipping most orders within 24 hours with the remaining ones the following day. If you are still considering ordering something for your 80, the promo codes are in the previous post.
