We got the rear axle under and mounted (minus two u-bolts) and took the front out and removed the add-a-leafs. Then ran out of time. I probably wont be able to get home to work on it for 5-6 more weeks when school is out :frown: But we've made great progress so far! The rear end is TALL without the gas tank and gear etc etc.

Looks just right on the height, jaw dropping at first but you will get used to it in no time. :grinpimp:

:D If anyone asks... I guess I was sick today.... :D

Cut a little class to head back up here to Harrisonburg to get a little more work done. Got the perches cut off and the new ones welded on today. Set the caster at 5*, no cut and turn... I'm hoping to avoid it for a bit. With the weight on the front end it sits right about where I was hoping it would.

Not really worth starting another SOA thread so I'm gonna sneak the pictures in here... tomarrow I'm gonna start on the triple stick. The goal is to have everything ready to get the drive shafts made tomarrow.

Observations... highsteer is expensive... I'm not sure it's worth it to just buy the arms. If anyone at Marlin would answer the phone I'd be askin if the $399 covered the cruiser stuff too. Looks like I'll be sufferin' a little more and springing for the All Pro kit.

Don't mind the sketchy square U-bolt action on the passenger side... It's just to locate the axle so I could put the wheels back on.

Chris,

I got the Allpro stuf and have been real happy with it...had it for like 6 plus years now...lookin good..

You shouldn't need to cut n turn with the V8/Auto/203 swap. My front and rear drivelines are almost equal in length and at great angles. I would say a cut n turn is a MUST for a stocker just sprining over though.

Chris,

So was being sick.....haelpful??? I am gonna get back on the project tommorow when I wake up:) :)

I can't wait...

Back from page 19!!!

Got home last night and started this morning. Not much picture worthy but I'll sneak in a few anyway. One of the guys from the club in Blacksburg came by and gave me a hand. We got the tranny out, sealed up, torque converter in, and all assembled again. Highsteer is on expect for the pitman arm and I'm workin on remaking the crossmember. Bling Hurst shifter mocked up.

I'm off all week so I hope to be driving it by the weekend!

Keep up the good work, you're getting close! With the beer fridge there, is the fire hydrant for you or the dogs? :flipoff2:

Help!

I've gotten just about everything together I need a little more help. The torque converter is in the tranny and the tranny is bolted up to the motor but the torque converter is hung up on the pilot bushing and stuck. I've tryed a crow bar behind it to slide it forward with no luck.

I don't think I'll be able to line the torque converter up with the splines if I bolt it to the flex plate first.... I just need another 3/8"...

Can I stack washers? :flipoff2:

Thanks
Chris

I don't think anyone is checkin this thread anymore but how did you guys do the front passenger side U-bolt setup? The square U-bolt comes up and a weird angle since it's over the diff. Pictures? Help... I'm almost done with this thing!

Chris

Pardon the stupid question... but are they both round U-bolts?

Chris,

You can't ask stupid questions....that is all I have...but yes they are both round....

Both round. Some more pics for you...

Awsome thanks... the center of the round U-bolt was bothering me. Guess it's fine.

$100 to have my drive shaft shortened and balanced too much?

Sounds reasonable since a new one is probably 300....but it has been awhile since I paid for any driveline work...

I had the front shortened and the rear lengthend for $150. It does'nt sound like you are getting hosed.

Been workin for the last two weeks straight... Big thanks to my little brother and Brain (Bluecruiser84). I cannot believe how long the "litle things" take. It took three of us about 2 hours to get the gas tank in! Got everything in, crossmember is tacked together but not welded yet, the tranny needs more fluid once the truck runs it through... but believe it or not... there's not gas in the tank to drive:crybaby: :crybaby:

The spring over is LOW... 25" at the front bumper and 26.5" at the rear bumper with the 33's on.

Pictures... will get gas after work tomarrow and see if it'll start....

Doubler et all

On tall 33s... (they're the same height as my brand new 34" LTB) the rattle can looks much closer to the paint in the day light.
