Finally back at the computer.

Everyone in my camp [including me] woke up this morning to find that a semi-ambitious group of hardy souls had sacrificed part of their sleep to lower my roofrack the hard way by burying my cruiser up to the axles in the sand!

The truck was SO MUCH EASIER TO LOAD that way, what else can I say but THANKS!:D

It was great to see everyone again, with extra props to Randy for getting his FJ62 back on the road after an almost 2 year springover project, and Fast Eddy for his fast-tracked new rock rig. Also great to see Marv and Kay Specter out at a Landcruiser event again.:)

Had a blast bombing around the dunes with the Hendog, a cruiserhead who took the time to fly in from GA to attend this event...AGAIN!. He must have been the mojo that kept the karma cruiser from getting stuck all weekend, three on the tree, p-metrics and open diffs notwithstanding.

And the audience at the campfire Saturday night was very kind.

I know...I walked through your camp a couple times, kept hearing your name, and saw your truck and trailer. But I never caught up to you. You and Pighead were the only two dudes whose rigs I hung out at, but didn't meet. I finally met Pighead at a stop light outside of town...and then I sort of rudely took off mid-sentence as my light turned green.

I was running around :crybaby:cause Im the only fawknard to break a birf at Pismo............I hit the tequila pretty hard that day.......

did anyone surf???

Couple people went out, and there were some early a-frame sandbars working here and there, but it blew out early, and once it was blown out, a couple of kite surfers did their thing, but....between the cold and the onshore winds, and the fact that my fat ass is spoiled by easily accessible point breaks, I couldn't be bothered.

Parte Uno.

Got into SnT about 0100 on Saturday morning. Drove around, flashing my headlights into people's tents and generally pissing everyone off with "PSSSST! Hey man, you know Mark? Mark, man, Mark's Offroad Mark. Whatta ya mean you drive an FJ Cruiser...do you know him? No? s***, man, why didn't you say so?!?!"

Finally decided to pull into the first empty spot. Set up my tent, got my s*** situated, too wired to sleep so I downed a couple doses of NyQuil and barely got into my sleeping bag before I was passed out (well, it is the coughing, sneezing, aching, how the hell did I end up on the kitchen floor medicine).

Turns out, my stab in the dark was cosmically laughable...

Woke up, and found out I was next to this a******, Alfred "Spike Strip" McSomethingorother, who wasn't happy with just the pleasure of being within sight of me, he fed me insanely delicious food and let me hang out with him. What a jerk!
IMG_3571.jpg

On the other side of him, was this classy gentleman...
IMG_3613.jpg

...and this one dude who, like, drives a fxxxing RC car.....on fxxxing MARS.....and they fxxxing PAY HIM to DO IT. Thanks to this guy, the Mars Rover will be renamed The Mars Cruiser. Nice work, bro.
IMG_3652.jpg

So the Poker Run starts, and all these assholes line up and there's hundreds of these rigs and there's 40s, 45s, 55s, OH MY GOD A 75 UTE and I have a boner like I'm 15 again and Ebony Jones (the prettiest girl in school) is sitting next to me in History and I can kinda see chocolate side-boob through the sleeve of her shirt and I can't get up 'cause I'm pitching a tent in my Bugle Boys and you get the picture.
IMG_3592.jpg

And THEY'RE OFF!!!...

...really slowly...they're Land Cruisers, after all.
IMG_3598.jpg

This is a movie, not a photo. That's how slow we were going.
IMG_3599.jpg

A super pretty lady made us pick playing cards for some reason. So did Skillet, but who the fxxx wants to see a picture of that guy?
IMG_3611.jpg

Mark took lines no one else thought of...
IMG_3600.jpg

It started to spit rain...
IMG_3622.jpg

...had a comprehensive view of SnT City...
IMG_3584.jpg

...and once it was all over, and it was properly raining, we headed back to camp for a fortifying nip of whiskey and a drying, warming campfire.

Yep.
IMG_3593.jpg

Speaking of drinking...rumors of Mickey, but never Mickey....
IMG_3579.jpg

After a nice break, the weather cleared, the sun peaked out under the clouds, and it was magic hour. And oh, was it magical.

The spdwaver1 family headed out in their Cruiser with Spike Strip and myself in tow in the Hilux for some exploration and photography.

Great looking family, those spdwaver1's. Seriously, the cutest, nicest kids ever. I showed a picture of my five year old son to his four year old daughter, and said "Do you think he's handsome?" She said yes. I think we might be able to make....how do you say....an arrangement. Yes?
IMG_3639.jpg

Don't worry about a dowry, Sean...instead, I will take this prized camel of yours. (yes, that is a rainbow on the right)
IMG_3625.jpg

Speaking of rainbows, who's this handsome hunk of beefcake? Mmm-mmm!
IMG_3631.jpg

All of a sudden, God was like "Oh, you been to Hawaii? Seen enough rainbows? Not impressed? BAM! GIANT GOLDEN PINK SKY TSUNAMI!!! What now!"

Parte Dos.

Night descended upon the camp, and it was time to tuck in for more alcoholic fortification and dinner. Spike Strip whipped up a little one-pan meal of flat-iron steak, onions, and broccolini that tasted like something God Himself might have whipped up...yeah, maybe on one of His better days. Mrs. Spike Strip is a lucky lady, with cooking like that going on.

There was also John (the Viper avatar dude), my Filipino half-brother, whose family also fed me a heavenly Korean BBQ and steamed rice. Generous, cool people.

Went to the bon-fire, where I met Skillet and Nat, Monniepoo, Art, D'Animal, and surfpig. As my lips tend to get chapped easily, I excused myself to apply some chapstick, followed by some new friends. Much conversation ensued, and Skillet and I found a common bond. A common Gold Bond, that is. We are Gold Bond Medicated Brothers now, and we have cables growing from our ears. Laugh all you want, we get the good channels.

Went back to the bonfire with Nat, where things took a surreal turn for the surreal.

Hey D'animal, why the long face?
IMG_3647.jpg

Oh...
IMG_3646.jpg

...and with that, it was time to stumble to my tent. Slept like the dead until woken up by some a******'s open-exhaust V8. Whoever you are, please cock-punch yourself. (I'm looking at you, red buggy owner guy.) I must have slept like the dead, 'cause I didn't hear the sound of the mob that dug a hole and put Mark's Cruiser in there.

IMG_3648.jpg

The culprits apparently weren't too smart, because they left the weapon used in the crime at the scene.
IMG_3656.jpg

With the shenanigans done, it was time to say goodbye. Made plans to hang out again, and headed out. Wished I had brought my Cruiser, but the Hilux did great on her maiden voyage. She bounded through the sand like a pro, and I love her that much more for it.

FIN.

You local slackers, Chris posting videos and Seth commenting on them!....we needed your help breaking down! But Ken, Jim and I eventually got 'er done. It is a sweet video...fun watching that IFS work.

Take it up with my watch commander, he's the one who decided i need to be at work at 2:30am sunday morning, not me. Dude you know i'm down for SnT. Did you see that woodpile? Miles and I killed it! I'm sure Mark was toasty for his guitar sing-a-longs, and the judges were warm for their Sand Chef tastings.

Don't hate Andy:flipoff2: Let's get the families together soon! kids and , my place.

My son and I had a wonderful time at blue camp, hopefully we didn't wake anyone up when we rolled out at 5:30 on Sunday. Thanks for the hospitality and getting to put faces to all the handles.
