Evan, Tim, and the brother from Texas, who helped me get going again when my rear shock mount broke off.

Good to see everyone (So Cal, Nor Cal, guys I did the Con with, FJ guys, etc.). Like i said, I only wish there was more time to meet everyone b/c I didn't have the chance to do that regretfully.

Do it again next year hopefully.

I think I met the same Tom that you are talking about. Is he from San Mateo? He parked behind me while we were all lining up to make long line. I believe his wife is Japanese.

aside from beer bongs MIA, porn star hood ornament, hot sleeping bags; how about we solve the other most pressing issue at Oceano:

rogue ATVs!



I say we line up all our trucks with serious bullbars, but sideways this time. We make a mile wide blade o' steel. Start at one end of the beach, and push all the ATVs in front of us. We pile them up at the other end, and set them up on fire...! The drunk riders, idiot teen riders, middle-of-the-night-ride between the tents at high-speed; and all those who put shrill exhausts on them, we toss on the pile as well....

I x2 that! Oh what about the figure 8's that they make in the sand. I took a nose dive in one on Sat. on my way to the bathroom.

As I was leaving the area, windows down, cruising along the beach smiling, an ATV pulled up on the side and suddenly revved/sped a way, kicking wet sand into my face (and eyes)

yeah when i was leaving some punk kid cut in front of me and i almost hit him. so i gave him the finger and turned around and came by the driver side door and yelled some words. i just wanted to swing my door out and take him down. when will they learn not to mess with things alot heavier and bigger?

I was up during that time. Saw the rangers rush to the scene. Jim got a call asking if he knew about and he rushed off with some other guys to the scene.

Never did ask what happened.

That's her, and still completely wasted drunk at 6am Saturday when I got up to watch the rocket launch. She and lover-boy crawled into the "soon to be burned" sleeping bag shortly there after. He was at least as drunk-as in epic, reeling, blind, drunk. Damn funny. There had to be some serious hangovers after that night.

My DSL modem took a dump last week, but thanks to SNT'er David U. "Yep" who brought me a replacement I've got my connection back. Only just skimmed the messages so far but...

Thanks to everyone for coming to SNT and making it the best yet!

A quick note to E9999 and others, the Oceano Dunes State Off Highway Vehicle Area is a Multi Use area where we enjoy and RESPECT all off highway users. The fact is there were very few ATVs using the park this weekend. That's why we picked this weekend because in fairness, we were the ones that took over and dominated the park with our Land Cruisers. You should learn to appreciate the ATV'ers, because they are the ones that do the most work to keep our park open. I really don't like to read statements like yours that only divide our "larger" community of off highway enthusiasts.

As far as, speeding in camp, that's a very bad thing no matter what you drive. I've reminded everyone I see to comply with the 15 mph speed limit within 50 ft of campers or anywhere on the beach. It is posted and enforced. Remember you can go fast as you want in the back dunes.

Drinking and driving, is stupid and illegal. Personally, I hope anyone doing it at the dunes (or anywhere) gets caught and goes to jail. Again, its not an ATV or 4WD issue. I certainly don't want to read about SNT'ers doing it.

Finally, myself and a couple other SNT'ers who happen to be EMTs, responded to the above ATV accident. I received a cell phone call because the park ranger was a long way from the scene and knew we were camped very close to where the accident was reported. I'll just say if you saw the family members grieving over the body of their loved one I'm sure you would join me with some prayers for them.
