Ok guys I have been herein some talk about guys who take there Toyota trucks and swap out the 22-RE and put in a supra engine. So what is everyones take on this, is it a good idea for more power and torque, and where would I even start to find out how to do this. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Back in the old'n days it was a popular swap. But thoughts and engines have evolved. I've seen a few I6 swaps and none of them were clean. That engine is a tight squeeze.

Currently, I think the most popular swaps are one of the two Tacoma engines. The 3RZ has evolved to be almost a bolt in. Of course you still need to wire it up, but that goes for any efi engine.

The 5VZ is a bit more work due to its width. I've seen one super clean install in a gen1 4Runner.

Ok thanks for the info. I have a 92 Toyota pickup. Do you know where I could find the info on how to do this and what not.

Well, you might go to the mini-truck section at IH8MUD and do a search. Marlin's website also has a bunch of info on the 3RZ swap. Marlincrawler.com

I'd look at doing a 1UZ swap.
I think that would be a sweet motor in a 2nd gen 4Runner or Minitruck.
Supracharged.com has a 1UZ flywheel and bellhousing for the swap to any manual toyota transmission you want.

I've seen some youtube videos of turbo'd 1UZ's that put out 1200 hp (!).
The 1UZ's would be sourced out of Lexus autos, which wouldn't have been beaten as hard as a Supra.

That's for all the info guys it is really helping me out a lot. I am not going to start the swap till I am done medic school and working because kind of need to have money coming in. So anymore info would be helpful.

If you are looking for an engine swap to keep the drivetrain all Toyota try looking into a Lexus 1uz-fe V8. They are cheaper to buy and more reliable than the Supra I6's and make a pretty clean swap with plenty of power.

Here is mine.

That's the swap I would do.

That is my favorite Toyota/Lexus engine of all time. That thing is overbuilt in every way possible.

There are a couple of guys on Yotatech that are getting pretty good at that swap, including toyminator.

My ideal set-up would be the 1uz-fe in a 60 series Land Cruiser. It would be unstopable.

Yeah, that is the swap I intend to do on my 88 4Runner when the v6 plays out or I just decide I want more power.

Just wish I had some extra space I would just bypass the v6 and go straight into the 1UZ, unfortunately not right now. But someday, hopefully sooner than later.
