Hello there.

Many of you have seen my FJ45 but for family reasons need to do this (more as you read).

I am the second owner of this all original FJ45. It was purchased in 1963 and has a very VERY cool history.

I bought it from the original owner and have upgraded to power brakes and ensured all lights, signals, four wheel drive, and systems work. (Need to purchase a fuel sending unit and the speedo cable works, but is not steady, wobbles).

70,304 original miles. Engine fires right away, no smoking, no leakign (e-brake drum leaks a little after driving it). Everything works. All lights work, everything but speedo wobbly and fuel sending unit is in working order - ORIGINALLY. The power brakes I upgraded with NO CUTTING/WELDING. So, if you wanted to put the single circuit back in - it will bolt back in. I simply like the safety and power of the power brakes.

Shifts smooth, no slop. Again, no smoking fires right up. 4wheel drive works like a champ, about a 3 second vacuum engage and hi/low does not grind or cause issues, it is smooth as well.

You might be wondering about rust. There isn't any. The sheet metal on this rig is 100% original. It was used as a search and rescue rig for the san bernardino county sheriff's office, and parked in a barn from 71 until 98. In 98 it was brought to Colorado Springs where I bought it last year. From 98 to 2008 it was in a shed.

Incredible history, incredible cruiser.

LOCATION - Pocatello, ID (can help deliver or meet up with you).
PRICE - 1977 or 1978 FJ40, Rustic Green. (extra points for a 12/77)

I am perfectly happy with this FJ45, I love it to the core. However family camping trips are difficult. In my FJ40's we fit better with the kids on the jump seats.

Cell is 719-640-4736 if you'd like to chat.

Pictures: Bored.....Decided to mess around with the Camera
In the 45 section, I also have a FOUND! thread that shows what I have fixed and done.
Also - Winch stays with me (sentimental reason).

Thank you,

Dallas

Dallas,

What's the significance of those two dates--birthday, anniversary, or are there special features that only appeared on those manufacturing dates?

So......you're looking for an across-the-board trade for an FJ40, 1977-78 only, but it needs to have ORIGINAL green paint, and comparable condition? No cash wanted?

pm with pics of my 78 sent.

Yes, both my wife and I's birthdays, and my favorite color on a cruiser. I have solicited 5 different cruiser heads opinions on the price of my 45 and have an idea of what she is worth.

In trading my 45 for a 40, if the 40 had original paint that needed attention or if it had issues I'd consider a trade plus cash, etc...

PM's replied to!

So, you're not interested in the proper amount of cash, which would then allow you to purchase a truck that is not in my possession? It seems to me that you're going to be exceptionally lucky to find someone with the 40 you want, worth the correct amount, who wants to part with it and then wants your truck to boot. Why not list a price, then take that wad of cash out shopping for the truck of your choice? Just my $.02.

Luke <-----------has a '64 shortbed 45, would maybe buy your '63, but does not have any 40s to 'trade'.

I realize that I may be offending some people here by not posting a price. For that, I am sorry. I do apologize.

But please realize that I don't know what it is worth 1, and 2, I don't know what a nice original-like rustic green FJ40 77 or 78 is worth either.

I have seen identical cruisers be sold for thousands apart from each other. I don't like bickering or dealing with people over price or the like.

So......in not wanting to get into what your cruiser is worth, or what mine is worth I thought it would be easy to just swap with someone that had multiple cruisers and/or wanted a cool 45 instead of their 40.

Sorry.

Further, I have solicited (as mentioned) from people who have seen the truck what they thing its worth (a few that knew me personally and a few that didnt know me that well). All of them came back with 10-15K and maybe more to a collector.

Now, do I feel comfortable asking so much no. Would I like to receive that much? Maybe - but then I'd be cruiserless and have to start the mining/searching process all over again and hope that I had enough money to buy it. Make sense?

So in trading - all of that is bypassed and we now have two happy cruiser owners. Again - Sorry.

I hope this makes sense and am sorry if this posting has offended your or I have pissed you off becuase I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH TO ASK for it. Further, the only (personally) worthy cruiser I'd want to replace my 45 is a 77/78 FJ40 that is rustic green. Sound fair?

IB14A69 listed his above, so it's not entirely impossible of a request is it?

In posting a single amount of cash I will hesitantly say 12,500. Why? Its the middle of what people told me it's worth. If it's not worth that much (in your opinion) /shrug - sorry.

But then again, I have to take the 12,500 and go start looking for something. Just tried to save myself and someone else's time and effort. Did I mean to piss you guys off? Of course not.

Best wishes,

Dallas

Thanks for sharing those pics! It is awesome to know that real survivors like this are out there; great story behind it too. Sorry you have to sell, but good luck anyway. Hoping it's re-homed to someone who appreciates it and its history.

How about a '73 Rustic Green FJ40 (has a '77 2F) with a Pakistan top, Bimini top, hard top, 2 sets of hard doors, one set of OEM soft doors plus a spare 4speed and transfercase set up?

In posting this add, I was able to find a green cruiser that I am able to purchase outright. I apologize again for any frusteration this may have caused you. I hope that we can still meet up on the trail sometime.

Martin - AWESOME....AWESOME cruiser. Hang onto that thing man! Wow, it's nice.

Later guys,

Dallas

What does this mean? Is the truck still for "sale"?

Thanks Dallas. I like my truck, but would sure be tempted by a rust free 45. You really should try to keep it if possible.

Dallas, you go through Cruisers quicker than i go through Girlfriends..

This is not Hot Potato ;)

This is due to the fact that I have wanted a 77 rustic green. I only bumped into the 45 when looking for a 40.

The dates are my wife and I's birthdays.

Yes, I found a rustic green cruiser.
Yes, the 45 is no longer for sale.

Sorry for any confusion.

Bye for now!
