You are doing the Lords work!

Most would have let that thing just rot away.....one more 60 series still on the road!

Following....
Thank you!

I'm a amateur so its gonna be rough around the edges until I figure it out!

Some pictures post clean, started sanding a bit. Tried my hand at wraping it in vinyl, and realized it isn't for me.

I'll do a repaint at some point after bondo is wrapped up.

I have to go through the doors next as some had some internal rust damage and it shows on the inside. My wife is getting me a die grinder for my birthday (tomorrow) so that will help with more detail work!

Quick update:

Tackling the doors and their rust!

Bottoms were rotten out decided to take out the door and finish the job as it was hard to reach. One down one to go. I'll probably be pulling them out to paint so obviously not final product, but paint is probably far away.

Waiting on some Bondo to start body work seriously. I got a die grinder but no attachments so back to shopping.

I need some Bondo to fill out the area behind the quarter panels by the windshield to make it nice and smooth. I bought some 045 paint to match the color, and I'll spray that area so I don't have to take the fender off when repainting.

Almost ready to put the front fenders back. Lots of sanding incoming!

Another update.

My bathroom flooded, so I ended up tearing out the entire thing during the last 3 day weekend. I probably spent about 40 hours demolishing and setting new walls, plumbing, and tub/wall combo. Next is finish up the dry walls and tiles. I'd rather be working on the truck.

I have hired a local auto glass company to replace my windshield. It will cost $450. A bit pricey, but no one else will do it. I decided to just eat the costs.

Laid some insulation, used a bunch of Bondo, and will need more. Fixed the exhaust hangars, and the speedometer cable. I had a can of Toyota 045 lying around and chose to use it as a test and painted some of the one side.

I will pick up a paint gun, and about 2 quarts of pre reduced paint to go ahead and do a quick coat before the weather gets too cold. Make the truck look like not a junker ;).

Slowly getting the girl ready.

For next steps I have to finish sanding off the body, re do some Bondo in key areas, then sand it off. Install the new door cards (abs plastic). Finish sound deading work.

Install carpets after windshield, and move to paint the car before these 70 degrees days disappear.
Wish me luck!

Bummer about the bathroom! Glad that you're getting that sorted.

The 62 is coming along great. You've saved this one!

One question: have you re-sealed your gutters?

If not, I would recommend doing it now. Given everything else that you've done, the gutter re-seal will be a breeze.

Use a screwdriver (and a light hammer) to tap out the old sealant.
Then, a grinder wheel on a drill to take the gutter down to bare metal.
I applied an encapsulator to seal the gutter's bare steel, then applied the new gutter seal.
Then painted it.

That's what I did based on research here on Mud.

But, there are tons of threads/methods on gutter re-sealing.

The field paint mess is done! It was my first time so I struggled really badly with the gun. Made runs etc.

Learned quite a bit. It'll last me through the winter and I'll probably re do it next year with a little more patience.

Definitely a 20 footer. But it LL keep the rust out! When its dirty no one will be able to tell :)

A little update:

I 2 toned it with bed liner. I with I took a better approach near the front quarter panels. It doesnt look that great with sharp cut offs. Oh well.

Mostly interior is in. Couple areas where I have to tack the carpet. Install the dead pedal or deal with overspray.
1000011124.jpg

I placed the seats in. Need to bolt in the passengers seat still. I also glued the dash cap, and put in the new door cards.
1000011112.jpg

Few things still remain:
1. rear bumper and tire carrier.
2. Hitch and right taillight wiring.
3. Replacement mirrors.
4. Molded floor mats.
5. Replacement LED headlights.
6. Rear tailgate trim.
7. Trunk cards.
8. Oil change.
9. Exhaust repair.

I honestly made so many mistakes everywhere. Lessons learned thoroughly. I need to be more patient in the future. Cleaning ahead.

Drive it like you stole it, man...

You'll be driving slow, but that's ok... lol. You've pulled your rig back from the brink.

I'm not sure that anyone has given you one of these... :flipoff2: ... but it's Mud, man. You need one.

@Old Nick beat me to it, but i'll second it :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
@Krawczyk80s , way to keep after it mister. you've done well in the 9 or so months you've had it👍

Did some interior work. These molded plastic mats are pretty cool!

Changed the oil today as well. Used 15w40, 7.8 quarts. Took it for a spin, it runs well. Just have to get the exhaust leak taken care of.

Maybe you know Nick, my steering feels a little wobbly, any way to tighten it up? Maybe something to do with the steering stabilizer.

Oh yeah I need someone to help me with the rear bumper. The aftermarket one I have weighs at least 250 lbs!

So close to being done!

Looking good!

How is your steering box? Power steering lines? Leaking?

I ended up doing the 80 series steering box upgrade. The 80 box will bolt right on to your frame (it can be tilted into place and you won't need to cut your inner fender). After I did that, my steering - which was very sloppy - was sorted right out.

If you don't want to go that route, I would check your linkages and tie rod ends. Start using penetrating oil on them daily so that they can be adjusted. Then, take it in to have your tires balanced.

If you need new TREs and steering parts - CruiserOutfitters will sort you out. Cal them, and they will walk you through the parts list that you will need.

Some gratuity shots. Need to figure a few things. Wiring for blinker and right tail running light, something's off and even after bulb change they don't work.

Thermostat seems to be always open and the temperature gauge doesn't climb above 1/10th. It has a new radiator so I wonder if it needs to be adjusted, or replaced.

Need to have the exhaust patched, as there's a huge hole around the air sensor, I think it's causing it to run rich.

Handles much better after bringing tires to 38psi. 33inch KO2.

Lights and mirrors still on the way.

Please don’t take offense at what follows…

When you changed out the thermostat, did the new one go in “right side up”? If it was installed the wrong way, it won’t work properly…

Our dash gauges aren’t too accurate… it could be that your engine is reaching correct operating temp and the gauge isn’t reflecting it.

Or, you could have a bad unit.

If it is bad, replace with an oem thermostat and gasket.

No offense here!

I wasn't the one changing the rad, so I'm not sure how it was done.

I think something's amiss due to heat not working correctly. I can feel a little bit of heat when I ran the truck for 10ish miles. But lukewarm at best.

I'm not sure if it has to do with almost exposed O2 sensor in the exhaust.

Soon to be cold so I'll need the heat! Hopefully easy fix with the thermostat.

The thermostat may be lacking the upper 0-ring. The o-ring is needed for proper coolant flow, without the o-ring excess coolant flows past the t-stat and your engine will never reach proper operating temperature. Easier enough to check, just pull off the upper t-stat housing and look for a large o-ring. If missing, add one.

You'll want the engine to warm up properly to have a heater in the winter and for proper fuel burning.

Thank you for this tip. I will checking this ASAP.

So after much deliberation, decided to list the truck for Sale. I enjoyed working on it. Made lots of mistakes, which all of you say through and talked me through. I appreciate the journey and will keep improving the truck until it sells.

Left on the list is:
1. New trunk struts
2. New odometer cable
3. Cats hollowed out
4. Torfab headlights installed
5. Bringing back the basket roof rack
6. Cleaning and installing the awning.
7. Touch some primer areas where rust fixes were applied

It's gotten properly cold, and after doing some exhaust work. I'm solidly frigid in 10 degree weather.

Lately managed to do the exhaust up, mostly. Fixed blinker/rear taillight issues, and undercoated the frame.

Currently asking 17k. Let me know if that is reasonable price.
