As spring is sprung, it's time once again to try my best to solve my intake issue's. I know Mark and Gary worked really hard on this, but until the whole fuel system is cleaned out my carb will keep cr***ing out.

I found the re-build kit, but need a new float (large window Aisin). If anyone has the part #, I may be able to source it.

As I am trying to stay stock, does anyone know if there are replacements for the paper element in my glass acorn fuel filter?

And finally, as i must break free the painted in fuel tank, should it be re-painted grey or match the body?

Hopefully you guys come thru as always, thanks-Bill

Here's the float. OEM, don't think Cruiserdan could get them. Had to go SOR.

Oh, and I think the tank should match the body.

Thanks!

So SOR shows no stock on this part and my search for oem toyota dealers comes up with the description "strainer s/a". Is this the float? or have they redesignated the part# for another part?

Anyone got an extra?

Thanks-Bill

I read this on another active thread.

:lol::lol: John found this active part # with Al at Titus Will. Fact. Got a kick out of that other thread. :) Give Al the business, he can also get one barrel carb floats and TEQ jerry cans. Not that anyone else can't do it, but credit where credit is due..................... :grinpimp:

Anyhow, if you cannot find it there try cruiserparts.net......might get lucky. Or you can keep your eyes peeled on ebay for a donor carb. They pop up every now than.

Billy, I think the pewter color for the tank looks a lot nicer in the truck personally.

Paper elements are still available from Toyota. Not much difference in price to a complete filter assembly tho [Hint: new hardware, even though it lacks the glass bowl]

Someone here will have a float for you. I have to keep my stock for the in-house rebuilds.

Best

I have purchased aftermarket filters as well, I believe they were used up until the early 70's, so it might be easier for them to find that info say, a 70/71 fj40... worth a try if you can't get to toyota..

If your tank is nasty I am assuming you will need to "boil" it out and solder the seams. I recommend a coating on the tank as the acid from getting cleaned eats any zinc coating left on the inside. I used red-coat but I think there are other products out there. Whether you do it or have it done make sure the pick up tube has no restrictions as well.
Is that what you had in mind?

Yeah i read somewhere on here to take it to a radiator shop.
The fuel filter is the old glass acorn, with a paper element.
The element is still usable, I just want new.
I have found oem fuel pump rebuild kits. and hope to run new lines with the old fittings.

I do have a line on a rebuilt carb, but like any true cruiserhead, it's hard to part with.

If I can get me F135 to look half as good as the one Foxfab did, I'ld be stoked.

Thanks to all for your help and wisdom.-Bill
