Very good. Looks just about the same as the 010AV i have that i pulled out of the shed this afternoon. I doesn't start. The spark plug sparks so the ignition works. I'll have to continue from there.
If it were Diesel it would have been running by now............
I'll see how I go.

If the 010AV is "Original", it will have a rubber square "O" ring on the air filter. It will also have a lip on the choke plate on the air filter. If the rubber "O" ring is gone or the choke lever is warped, it is not choking. This is a common problem with the older design.

Many people install a new air filter with the hard plastic center opening but forget to modify the choke plate or replace it with the newer version.

Remove the air filter cover and the air filter. Put your thumb over the opening of the carburetor and try to start it. It is called a Hard Choke. It should pop and start.

This will work 90% of the time on this series of saw as long as fuel has not varnished, etc.

Here is an original 011 that is Orange. The Chain Saw looks the saw as the white 011 and is built very similar but has points, different air filter, etc.

This is actually an 011 AVT (Anti Vibration Top handle)

Great post!
Got one of those in the garage that needs a lookin at and you've motivated me to do something about it. Will get to it just as soon as I finish the Victa 18 Special restoration I'm working on right now.

Chain Oil problem

Hi D'Animal, I understand from your posting on the Stihl Chain Saw that you are really familiar to those saw and would like to ask you to help me with my problem. I got a 010 AV that seems to be in good condition, but I can't manage to make it lube the chain. I have taken apart the oil pump and everything seems to be ok. The diaphragm looks ok and the small spring is in place.

However, I suspect that a tube and filter is missin. I can't see it when I look into the emptied tank.

Am I right to belive that there should be a tube there? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

hey d'animal quick question just pickked up a 009 and the stop button doesnt seem to work I tore it apart and it has the little flattened bar attached to the stop button which seems to slide over a little plastic "thing" with a metal bump on it. Is there something missing or is there a speciall way to stick it all together.

thanks

Bryon

yeah thats what i thought i pulled it apart again to check to ensure clean and all looks good I'm assuming it is attached to a wire perhaps the wire is broke. I've been told by the guy i go it form that it never worked he shut it off using the choke. I appreciate your time its just these litle things that bug me

thanks

There is a bare spot of metal just above the kill wire. You may have to clean the oxidation off the metal. the top side of the "P" shaped bend on the end of the kill wire tab is what contacts the bare metal. The bottom side of the "P" or the "D" shape of the "P" is what contact the kill tab wire and then slides up and grounds the kill wire.

I will look to see if I have one in the shop to get a better picture of.

Thanks.. I have a couple Stihl pro saws but my dad gave me this saw and it is the saw I remember using growing up and learning how to cut so it holds some cool memories and I just want to keep it running well. I don't cut with it a ton anymore.

There is a tube from the brass nipple on the end of the oil pump going up to the discharge hole near the barstud.

A year has passed since my last posting and since then I have bought a brand new MS 180 CB-E and have started to look at the 010 again. I have replaced the tube that had fallen off and now I hace got chain lubrication... a lot. Too much in fact.... is there any way to adjust the quantity or is something wrong with the pump? The diaphragm looked alright, but I may be wrong..
