So when I go to start Lexi, especially when it's cold, I might get a short grinding noise, and the starter will just spin. I let off the starter of course and usually the second (or third time yesterday) it will engage and start. Is it serviceable?

rebuild kits are available, I was having starter issues and I replaced my battery to chassis and engine block ground cables , starter issues disappeared

Well, I found out why my starter wasn’t working very well. Someone put in an aftermarket piece of crap before I owned the vehicle. it’s funny it’s actually off of someone else’s vehicle. I’ve never seen because it’s a replacement motor but thankfully the previous owner had a Denso starter on the spare motor so I just pulled it off and slapped it in and it fires right up. Check out far back the splines for the solenoid go . I’m surprised this thing worked at all.
