Fair enough. I used a puller, but YDY.I’ve never seen the puller used. Ever.
Loosen the nut about 3 turns, smack the wheel a few times around its diameter with the heel of your hand. If it’s still stuck, hit it harder, Sally.

how much does a fresh HE wheel set you back? JWInstalled the Heritage Edition 45100-60760-C5. The Bronze stitching is a nice pairing with the Terra leather.
Also coated it with Colourlock Leather Shield, which is specifically intended for the protection of new leather against abrasion and friction - which seems like the exact use case for this compared to other leather conditioners. Instructions say to reapply every 3-6 months. Hopefully this also helps mitigate future deterioriation.

Checking to see how your OEM steering wheel replacement is holding up? I am about to replace mine. thx!The OEM replacement wheel is holding up nicely so far and wearing in as expected. The leather feels identical to the 2021 heritage edition I had before my 2016. The jury is still out on how the newer wheels are holding up, but I haven’t seen any posts or complaints so far on the 2020 and 2021 model years.
I’m surprised your 2019 is having flaking issues, as I thought they remedied that after the 2016-2017 model year?
For the extra $300, I would buy OEM. Just wait until Toyota is having their 20% off parts deal and buy it then. Leather covers make the steering wheel thicker and I am not a fan of that, and you will always feel that unnatural transition point from the wood to leather being underneath with a leather cover.
Replaced my severely peeling 2016 wheel with the full leather (with heater) OEM option. So far so good.Checking to see how your OEM steering wheel replacement is holding up? I am about to replace mine. thx!
My truck has been garaged since new, and the original leather was a disaster. The replacement wheel discussed on this thread, on the other hand, has held up perfectly. The original is thin leather with poor durability. I am doubtful that a ceramic coating will make any difference at all. Get the all leather wheel, with the more durable leather, and this problem will be solved.I'm starting to think that the peeling is caused by exposure to direct sunlight through the windshield. I know it's not caused by hand sanitizer or rings. After I replace I'm probably going to install a 95% ceramic layer to windshield and sunroof. Makes no sense otherwise except if leather is too thin or poor quality.
I have had ceramic tint on my windshield at 34k miles 5 years ago. My LC lives inside the garage. I agree. I will eventually get a new steering wheel like everyone else here when I do my interior refresh.Toyota should have took care of this on a premium vehicle and they did not.
Mine has been garaged too from day one but sits in the sun at work. I'm not talking about ceramic coating the wheel but a ceramic window film to prevent UV rays from breaking down the leather. Yes when I do replace I will upgrade the entire wheel and not just a leather wrap.My truck has been garaged since new, and the original leather was a disaster. I’m not discouraging anyone from having ceramic applied to their windshield, I imagine it will reduce UV degradation of the dash and interior. But I strongly believe the problems with the leather steering wheel on 2016-2021 LC200’s have nothing to do with UV exposure. Nor is it hand soap, lotion, sweat or sanitizer. It is soft, delicate leather that cuts easily and eventually peels. The all leather replacement wheel is much more durable.Mine has been garaged too from day one but sits in the sun at work. I tend to agree. I’ve had my ‘14 since the beginning and it looks 5x better than my wife’s ‘20.I’m not discouraging anyone from having ceramic applied to their windshield, I imagine it will reduce UV degradation of the dash and interior.
