Anybody else have this issue on a 2016+ LC200? Saw what I thought was tape so I peeled it off and turns out it’s part of the steering wheel! Then noticed a crack right above it. I drive with my hand on the left portion or top of the steering wheel. Only touch the right part when turning hand over hand.

I have it on my '15, but only (right now) at the very top and bottom on the fake wood finish. Would be curious what others have done to prevent/repair as well.

My 2018 has a tiny piece of that skin layer missing from the right side of the steering wheel, it came that way from the previous owner. Mine's not peeling and is almost not noticeable, but otherwise it looks a bit like yours.

Honestly, that little bit that was scraped away was my biggest concern prior to purchasing my LC. Given that was the worst problem I could find on the vehicle when I was looking it over, and there were definitely no big-ticket worries (like rust, reliability, etc.), I bought it. But that steering wheel peeling is still the thing that I'm most paranoid about. I'm super careful handling the steering wheel, and make sure to note if it ever gets worse whenever I drive it (it hasn't so far). I'm assuming that some day it will get worse and I'll need to get a steering wheel cover.

Yep 2016 and I also have this and it will get worse. It started with a small patch then in a few months it’s spread quite a bit. I think I’ll get one of those Chinese wheel covers from amazon that you can stitch on.

Yeah, other threads I've looked always seem to recommend Loncky.

Loncky also makes them for 2016+, and they have an awesome number of options. Scroll down to see the options here:

Leather wheel cover and don't look back. Hides that shameful fake wood, much more comfy.

I'm super careful with the hand sanitizer, make sure my hands are full dry before touching anything, especially leather.

Went with the $9 option to test sewing skills. Once this wears out, I’ll buy a fitted kit.

If you use the hand sanitizer stuff do not touch your steering wheel until your hands are complete dry. The alcohol in bottle reacts with leather. Best thing you can do once this happens is thoroughly clean the leather with some water and Woolite. Let it dry completely and then put back on leather protector. The stuff they give you to protect high end purses works great. If it gets bad enough and you can go a week or two not driving it these folks can make it look like new or better "CraftCustoms.com" they redid my T100 leather steering wheel looks like day it came from factory in 1997. It was not cheap at about 300 dollars but awesome work.

I've noticed a lot of 2016+ steering wheels with the fake wood chipping off and the leather tearing. I feel like the 2008-2015 fake wood and leather holds up a bit better.

I can source and ship OEM Land Cruiser 200 Series steering wheels from here in Dubai, both the 2008-2015 and the 2016+ ones...
