Thanks Everyone for a Great Time! i hope to see my truck out there soon! even though ill miss driving mr invicible..... opps i mean the LANDBLAZER. anywho thanks everyone for the tips a tricks they gave me on the trail. Vids of hill climbs and mudholes will be added soon.

so let me get this straight: you guys called the cops because they wouldnt let you pass? private property is private property... did you guys try to grease the super's wheels($$$)??? i mean people do have guns, and if you let one guy through your property you have to let everyone through. so at a point you got to let no one through. (shooting trespasser is extreme) i dont think you guys were in a life threatening situation... i know you guys had broken parts and such, but willing to pay the courts 150$ if you get a trespass charge wouldnt of being a fair situation for the owners of the private property. what if the owner called the cops because a convoy of trucks was trying to travel on his property????? really in the end, the earth under our feet and tires belongs not to man nor government.

what you missed is the GPS showed it to be a public track, it was not private property. the land WAS private but a fire access road is public property.
what we FOUND OUT was that the fire access road was aquired by Hydro One and is was declassified as a fire road. it was a gray area that i used for our advantage.

the owner DID call the cops and was on the line the same time WE called the cops under the misunderstanding the road was public access.

AT NO TIME does anyone have the right to threaten verbally (or by display) the threat to use a firearm in use against another individual, this is not the USA.

I was shocked also but it worked like a charm and we were not trespassing as Wayne pointed out.

"Don't fxxx with old people" right Wayne! :D

i didnt know the exact situation as per the road, what did the cops say about its access? obviously they let you through...

sorry but cops do it all the time.

and i had an inccdent once going down a fire road where a guy was totting around his shotgun with a beer and his kid, telling me to turn around...not wise to argue with a man with a gun...

and if you called the cops he would have lost his gun, his beer, his FAC, his hunting license, his truck and anythign else they want to take plus been charge with numerous charges. he would have never been able to go Stateside, get another gun ... short and sweet, he would have been fawked for life. s***, child care might have even taken the kid away.

cops play by different rules, they have the legal right to draw a weapon ... the average Joe doesn't have any legal leg to stand on.

but

this being said, i would not have called the cops while in his sight. you threaten me with a gun, you best be ready to lose everything, i don't take threats lightly. i would back away, head up the trail a bit, make the call, wait for the cops to let me know they are there, drive back and insist on charges. cops lay the charges at their discretion.

the cops informed us that the map was outdated and it was now completely private property owned (or leased) by Hydro One. I will not be taking that road out again.

IF i do that run again, it will be wheel to there, camp, wheel back out the same way we came in.

the guy didnt threaten me with his gun, just told us to turn around and leave not so nicely, he happen to be walking around with a gun. as much as i wanted to call the cops, i didnt feel threatened, nor did i think the guy was dangerous, i didnt want to ruin his life over this by calling the fuzz.

by the sounds of it too, he guy said the next gate owner will come out with a gun. doesnt sound like the neighbor is gonna shoot you if you go through his gate... i wasnt there, im sure buddy was pissed and cursing and the what not.

and i disagree with you cops play by different rules. cops are people like us too, nothing makes them superior. those who dont stand up for their rights dont deserve them. equality is mandatory before the law

sorry to hijack. i defenalty come with next year, i also carry spare birfields.. and got one mother winch...

each to their own, if the guy says "... will come out with a gun", i take that as a threat.
if a guy is packing and he tells me to turn around on a public trail he can go hike, if he threatens me with the guy i will call.
just because a guy is packing doesn't mean squat, any hunter has a right to pack when hunting but not if he starts waving it around in a threatening manor. now if the hunter says "i am hunting in this area and would appreciate you not disturbing the game" then i will turn around out of respect for his enjoyment.
your post came across as if he had threatened you with the gun, if i read it wrong then i over reacted.

whether it was the super or the next door neighbour with a gate that is going to pull a gun, i am calling the threat in. there was no reason for threats, there was no reason he didn't open the gate especially when the sign said "ask super for permission" which we attempted. we played by the rules as we saw them, we did not threaten him, we did not yell, curse or scream at him, we politely asked for permission to pass. he did the threatening and i called him on it.

if the cops said turn around, then i would have pleaded to pay the tresspassing charge and proceed. if they wouldn't open the gate then it would have been another LONG day going back up the trail or scouting a bypass around the mess ahead in the morning.

as for saying it wasn't life threatening, that is not for you to make that call. serious snow forcasted for that night and into the next day with temps dropping and winds picking up. down to one winch and minimum 15 hours back out. it could turn life threatening in just minutes, i was not ready to risk it with a chance to be back on the road in 20 min.

next year you have the opportunity to lead the group and be responsible for the lives and well being of those under your care. THAT is the responsibility of who ever takes the lead, i took a vote to see who was proceeding and at that point i took responsibility for those that made that decision.

yes, they were all adults but as the one with the most experience it was my choice to accept it. I would hope you would do the same when you lead them next year.

well i hope you guys didnt get the wrong idea by what i said. i wasnt there but i had to ask. i much respect for the whole group and i know the right decisions are always made.

as for me to lead the group, i cant back down to that. dont have to wait for next year either. may 24 weekend, bobcaygeon ? :D

Lost, definately wasn't a challenge being made, it was how i look at things when i am in the woods and on the trail.
I am pencilling in May 24 for bobcaygeon this year, i hope i can make it. i have heard good reports back.

maybe start a new thread so we can sign up ...
