Keep posting, your got to have a minimum number of posts before you can post more than three ;-). You can also buy a silver star to get unlimited or host your pics somewhere like Photobucket.com and link here with IMG code -

Looks like a good start on those housings :)

post pictures on photobucket or another image sharing site and post the links ... the site will embed the images into your thread.

be sure to put them where you want to keep them, that way the thread will stay intact for years to come and everybody and benefit from your write up!

cheers

Nice tidy work mate

Curious , did you put the Cruisers weight on the rear when you set up rear pinion angle? or just point pinion at transfer without weight ?
FYI if you don't , upon weight being applied the pinion angle can change a fair bit and for normal operation can cause quite frustrating vibrations..even with a double cardon joint

Ask me how I know..

yeah mate when I set the pinion angle I had all the weight on it even my spare tyre. did you run a double cardan on the rear shaft? with the caster im just going to set both sides at about 4 degrees.

thanks crushers the reinforcements will almost look like it was there from the factory with a bit of paint.

Nice work!
Why did Toyota never made that from the factory?!? When you look at the distance between the leafspring baseplate and the floor it's not more air than many daily street cars have! Pretty weird for an offroad vehicle, isn't it? Why not built it like from the beginning like that to gain lots of ground clearance?

Ah good s***. 4 degrees is good too
& yeah I run a D/C out of a hilux at the top end of the rear shaft. Not sure how you'd get on with the factory shaft. Worth a try see how it goes?

Doing tidy work man , keep it up

yeah I will give the factory shaft a go with a bit of luck it might just work ok but as for the front I will definitely use a double cardan joint because the roads here in winter get a bit icy and its good to be able to use it in high 4. a few pics of the truss for the rear diff.

some more pics with the front diff in ready to set the caster and welded. for the front I used rear leaves out of a 60 series and for the rear I used the standard 75 leaves. I used 12mm mild steel for the ubolt plates and as for the shocks Im thinking bilsteins. and that's where im upto at the moment. I still need to flex it up and work out shock length? so I can weld my hoops on. then onto cutting about 300mm of the back of the chassis and build a new tray.
