Just posted this in the bad seller section but, as they have a facility in Tolleson, I wanted to share my experience with the local members.

I needed some brake line fittings so I could install my hydro boost in my 80. I had planned three days, perhaps four, to get it plumbed in and all wrapped up. I ordered parts on June 28th and paid for expedited shipping so I could have them on Friday the second. I paid a little more so I would have some cushion and they would have the parts to my door by July 1.

So, on June 30 I get an email that some of the parts that were backordered (did not show that on the site at the time of the order) would be shipping out on the 1st and not delivered until the 6th. I immediately call and speak with customer service. After a brief discussion, where I reminded them I paid for expedited shipping, he said no problem. I guarantee you will have the order by July 2.

So, July 2nd comes and goes, no delivery. It does not show up until almost 5pm on July 6th. Shot the holiday weekend I planned to use to get it done. Shot it to hell. I call on July 7 to complain and request a refund of the expedited shipping. The customer service agent (Andrea) was beyond not helpful and actually argumentative and then stated: "we don't guarantee expedited shipping". To which I responded, why did I pay extra for a service you would not guarantee? Anyway, after a minute or so she offered to forward me to customer service. Over 45 minutes on hold and no answer. Now, add to that, they shorted me on one part!

Filed a complaint with the CC company and they credited my shipping, I was not going to waste my time on the part but, should have. It was not about the money, it was about getting the service I paid for and then, their terrible customer service.

So, in closing, just don't patronize companies who don't value you or your business. Far more companies out there who are worthy of our money....

I'm with you on this - I CANNOT stand businesses that don't put customer service, including not delivering on a promise and then not resolving complaints as the highest priority. You did the right thing by pursing the shipping cost with CC company, but that really doesn't fix the issue. Thanks for sharing - they're on my "never shop" list for sure.

Add one more to your list - nitro gear/just differentials/JT's parts and Accessories (all the same company). 2 orders within 1 week, the first one they sent to an old address due to some sort of problem with their website. I called 150 or so times in 1 week, could never get anyone to answer the phone to fix it. Had to call daystar (who just bought the companies from Carl) and have them transfer me to someone, who then went and talked to the one magic person who could change the address with fedex. 16 hours later, got a confirmation that it was delivered 130 miles from my house. Then whoever runs the nitro facebook page talked a whole bunch of crap to me and denying that I tried to contact them and left 30+ voicemails and emails that went unreturned.

Order number 2, placed right after order number 1, they were out of stock and the item was on backorder. One of the guys emailed me right away and asked if I wanted to cancel or wait. I said cancel. Checked in with him once a week for 5 weeks, never got a refund. Apparently there is also only one magic person who can cancel orders as well. Replied to the guy who was running their facebook, he read the message but didnt reply. I filed a claim with the credit card company at the 6 week mark (6 weeks ago) and the claim is still not settled.

I have spent over $10K with them in the past 10 years, so I would consider myself a pretty good customer.

After reading a few recent reviews and seeing a few threads on mud, wish I never ordered anything from them. Pretty disappointed that their $780 UCA's come with chinese ball joints. They look remarkably similar to the taiwan made arms that are everywhere now (blackhawk, freedom, etc) but I have seen nitro claim they are made in the us and AU at different times. Now the took "made in" completely off of their website.

On the other hand, I placed a $3200 order with metaltech before just differentials. They called me right away and said everything was on backorder and they are working fixing the inventory issue with their website. I had a refund within an hour - great customer service.

About a year ago I was about to place an order for $200 in eaton weatherhead fittings their website said they had in stock for same day pickup at the I-10 warehouse in phx. Decided to call order instead of online for once, they didn't have a single one of the fittings I needed in stock.

Not that its your fault, but since covid it seems like 90% of the time when I need a part by a certain date, its late. I always call before ordering now and have had much better luck getting things when I need them. Usually that means called 10 different places though. And, customer service in general has gone downhill significantly since covid.

I am not sure what has me more POd about it. The fact that it was not shown as backordered, the fact that I was lied to when they assured me it would be here Friday, the BS the agent gave me on the second call or being purposely placed on ignore for 45 min. I guess I get the backorder. It happens. That said, as I paid for expedited shipping, they could have had it here easily by Friday.

Long and short of it, it was the worst customer service I have seen in years, well except for submitting plans to the State of New Mexico for review and approval. With government, unfortunately, I have come to expect it.

There are others in our midst as well….

Agreed about Just Differentials! They sold me wheel spacers advertised for 100 series Land Cruisers that are not hub centric. No replies to multiple contact attemps, via phone and email.

Speedway Motors was founded by a Ford guy - I have been to their museum in Lincoln, NE

considering their Ford and domestic maker heritage, I wouldn't even think of buying parts for a Toyota from them

Come to find out, the banjo brake fittings I bought from them have a very thin/narrow shoulder. The crush washers they supplied would not sit on the face of the fitting and would have leaked, if not on first install, soon thereafter. I bought crush washers with a smaller ID and still would have been a problem. Ordered some Edelbrock fittings, not only a wider shoulder that solved the issue, they are not as deep which solved another issue. I am converting the 80 from a vacuum boost to hydro boost and removed the antilock brakes assembly in the process. Prior to the conversion I had thrown over $2K (maybe $3k?) at the brakes on this thing trying to find a solution to the poor brakes. This includes having the guys at Camelback work on it. Nothing I did would give me a braking system that I was confident in. I am hoping this conversion addresses that.

I'd just like to say that every single time I've dealt with LC Engineering they have been a class act. Their tech line people are on the ball, and their products are really good. Just ordered a fuel pressure regulator, gauge, fuel pump, and new spacer for the 20R in my '80 4x4, plus an a-pillar gauge pod for the -
'86. Was told it could take a few weeks since the fittings for the gauge are backordered. OK, no big deal, I don't drive it all that much anyway. Order placed last Thursday. The order showed up yesterday, as in Monday. Everything was there. I paid normal shipping, they shipped USPS Priority. BTW that's not the first time I've ordered from them nor will it be the last.

Getting rid of the ABS will likely be the fix for your issue. My 95's rear brakes were hardly working (pads looked like new after 45k). I replaced the MC, pads and rotors, calipers, rubber lines and fluid for PM reasons, brakes felt only slightly better. So I got rid of ABS and the LSPV, then added in an adjustable proportioning valve. Now the brakes are extremely good, better than any other toyota i've driven by far. The LSPV was working, but I think there was air trapped somewhere in the ABS module and I couldn't get it out. also, I highly recommend the power stop z36 front and rear pad/rotor kit - major improvement over factory toyota parts. Plus they don't rust

I did that prior to this and did see an improvement but not what I had expected. Spongy brakes syndrome still there. I have literally run gallons of brake fluid attempting to bleed this thing. Tried every method known to man (perhaps a bit of an exaggeration) including the old reliable two person method, gravity, suction, and pressurized systems. Before removing the ABS, brought it to Camelback and they replaced the third master cylinder (and that is not an exaggeration) after I had replaced the 2nd brake booster with a sieken unit. Also deleted the LSPV in an attempt to address this.

I will say that on one of my bleeding sessions, using the pressurized method, I blew a substantial amount of what I can best describe as a vaseline type substance from the line going to the passenger rear brake. It essentially came out as one big glob. When that happened I thought I had found the culprit but, no change. Before I permanently connect all new lines to the new Baer MC, I am going to disconnect all bleeder screws and blow out the lines with the compressor just to make sure I don't have anymore of that crud in the lines.

Something has to give, I am into this brake system, with the new parts and all the other parts and fluid, at least 4k by now. I am sick of dealing with it and just want a system I can trust that will work flawlessly. Is that too much to ask for what should be an easy hydraulic system?

Wait, so after the hydroboost is done will be your first time driving it without ABS? or you did the ABS delete previously?

If you're ever up in flagstaff, stop by and drive my 80. I have driven quite a few and my 95 is light years ahead of the others. The 93 I sold recently was 2nd best, all I did to that was power stop front kit and rear pads, new hoses and a full fluid flush with typ 200 dot 4. Still nowhere near as good as the 95, but I could get abs to kick on pretty easy on dry pavement with 35's.

Going to put bigger power stop brakes and do a flush on my wife's v8 4runner this weekend, hers is really bad. Bad enough that it stops better when towing our travel trailer... Tried a few days ago and couldn't a get abs to kick on dry pavement, so I ordered $500 in parts to get that taken care of. I'm pretty sure the fluid is saturated and it has a few stuck pistons.

Hopefully this is the end of your issues, sounds like you have done everything now.

Previously. Here are the stages of brake system madness.

  1. Purchased vehicle and started baselining (approx 2013). Replace all pads and discs and replace all brake fluid. Still at stock ride height. No issues.
  2. First "failure". Brake booster crapped out. Replace with a Oreillys unit.
  3. Add lift and larger tires. No noticeable issues.
  4. Booster failed within a year, replace again (this sucks). Brakes still okay at this point.
  5. Master Cylinder failed, replace with OEM. Now start having braking issues.
  6. Bleed using two person method SEVERAL TIMES. Same issues.
  7. Used a vacuum to bleed. Don't bother trying this again, did not do anything for me. Tried twice
  8. When to pressurized bleeding. Better results but far from satisfactory. (This is where the crud was expelled from the system).
  9. Master started leaking, replace with another OEM. Extended brake lines since I had to open the system anyway. Used all Toyota lines. Problems now get worse.
  10. Remove LSPV. No significant change.
  11. Brake booster goes, again. Change to a Seiken unit. Actually worse (harder brake pedal) Pressure bleed the system.
  12. Brakes now reach the almost terrible stage.
  13. Take to Murph at Camelback. Replace Master Cylinder with a Mr. T unit and have them bleed the brakes. No noticeable difference in brake operation.
  14. Remove ABS system. Some improvement initially however, believe the booster may have a slight leak.
  15. Bleed the system several times (I should have bought stock in Prestone). Now nothing is improving.
  16. Throw in the towel and start over with the hydro boost which I am still working on.
I guarantee I missed a few bleeding sessions in the list above. I am hoping this addresses the issues, I have no idea of what I could do next but please, my lord in heaven, bless me with brakes so that I may protect my family and those in front of me!

I was up in flag last week getting my son a room for NAU. May be back up in a few weeks moving him in, if so I will contact you and really appreciate the offer!
