Spedo drive geer

Just put 16" rims with 265/70 tires on my 4Runner, this equates to a 30" tire, what I would like to do is change out the speedO gear to get the spedO to read correctly. Does anyone know what size gear I should go with? I know Toyota used different sized gears depending on gearing and tire size. I have found some information on this site for speedO gears size and change out but no references in regards to what gear I should use.

have you checked your speed0 to see if its off? i run 4.88's with some 35" tires and mine is only a couple miles an hour off at about 55. i use my gps to speed check stuff like my boat and quad too. works good.

I was also going to suggest that you check it first. Sorry, no idea about the speedo gears.

If nothing else, get on the freeway/interstate and use a stopwatch between two mile markers. Obviously the math is a bit easier if you maintain 60mph on the speedometer while you do this. You might be surprised how little you're off.

Yep, at 50 and up I'm 5mph off....50mph=55.
