I also installed the SPC arms last year pre-lift. Stock suspension, mall cruiser up to this point. Go to do the lift this weekend and the upper balljoints have an inch of play in them. Not impressed. 10,000KM (about 6000 miles!)
So do I get bitten twice and try the new and improved greaseable balljoints from SPC or do I pull the arms and go with one of the other competitions brands...

My mechanic noticed that my Radflo shocks were too short and were the limiting factor in my droop. This could have been the reason for my premature failure. He installed an inch shock spacer to help resolve this issue. I purchased some SPC replacement ball joints from metal tech and will report back in 6 months as to how they are holding up.

Any issues with the new SPC ball joints? I'm looking to order UCAs from them, but can't be messing with ball joints going out after a couple years. My truck has no lift...yet.

no comment on above, but:

With the new ball joint on the SPC, you're suppose to add grease to it before installing it.

I had one of the “new” greasable joints fail after 1.5 years and 25k miles. I called SPC and they said it was a very rare occurrence, and I could send the old one back for warranty and diagnoses.

Although I would have liked to get more mileage out of the ball joint it doesn’t change my mind that these are great UCAs. The ball joint is so easy to replace. I ordered 2 new ball joints from Summitt Racing for $65 and had them 2 days later.

It only takes about 15 minutes per side to change out the ball joints so I’m ok with it. Hopefully this set will last longer though.

I love that these UCAs are so serviceable. The ball joints are easy to replace, plus when I need to disconnect the knuckle from the UCA for an axle service I don’t even have to break the taper, I just unbolt the ball joint from the arm. It’s all so easy.

Do you by chance have a link to the ball joint at Summitt Racing? I’d like to pick up a couple to have on hand. Thx!
