With my luck that would be immediately lol

This was from trimming the rear bumper lol.

Had to get out and not hear about politics today. Spent the day fishing instead. Didn’t catch much. Had a school of trout follow the one I hooked and tried to get my other rod in the water to double up, but that ended poorly. Drove out to the surf to enjoy the sunset to end the day.

Looking good! Which beach?

Looking good! Which beach?

Padre island. Spent most of the day in aransas pass and rockport. Hit packery channel figuring there wouldn’t be many people on the side of the bridge with the super deep sand trail and was right for about ten minutes and then had two families fishing within 10 feet of me.

I need to hit up matagorda soon, but I need bigger rods and reels since my last surf setup was stolen. Might go out there Friday just to see what spots I can find to fish from.

You can fish the jetties, anywhere in the surf along the 23 miles of shore line and the backside of the island/south East Bay shoreline is accessible via the two-track trails that start at the three mile cut. About 7 miles in down to big shelf are the best for surf fishing. Hit me up, if I am around I'll join you for a bit.

Had to put an order in with rad rubber for some splash guards today. I had planned to put them off for a while, but I destroyed one yesterday. I’ve had good luck with them before and probably will again.

Took the GX to duggy’s this morning after work and of course he couldn’t recreate it. That’s my luck lol. Went ahead and had him get a set of sso sliders sent off for powder coat next week so I should have those put on in a couple weeks. Haven’t decided what’s next. It’s a toss up between the Ironman front bumper and winch, rear bumper, roof rack, or putting in an order for kings.

I put some of the Rad Rubber guards on in March and by October they were falling apart.

Got in contact with Eddie, the owner, and worked through some ideas and changes and ultimately he said they had switched materials but wasn’t going forward with some physical changes we worked through for a few weeks, which I’m disappointed about. He did send me replacements along with some swag though, so all good, for now.

Here’s my original set after only 7 months:

Wow that's disappointing. I've never complained about the stock ones myself.

That’s definitely not what I wanted to see. I spoke to Eddie before placing my order to see how long it would take since mine was missing and he’d mentioned that they were going to start shipping them with bottles of fluid film to help protect them from the elements. The stock ones had ripped on my fj cruiser and I replaced them with the rad rubber ones with no issues, but I did trade it in about 8 months later.

He did say they switched material and even then just thought I just got a bad batch of the old stuff.

When he told me about the fluid film route I just rolled my eyes. Yeah, it’ll probably work, but I’m not interested in adding “splash guard maintenance” to my oil change routine, that’s ridiculous and skirts the fix of a more appropriate material that’s actually sized right and doesn’t bunch up so excessively in areas.

Same, engine splash guards aren’t something i much worry about, we don’t exactly have mud holes and issues with caking up headers and stuff in Colorado. My GX came with 2 of 4 missing though so I knew I wanted something there and OE seemed likely to be the expensive route, for something so minuscule.

Both our GXs are missing 95% of all the splash guard stuff. I attribute it to the scorching hellish Texas summers.

I need y’all to talk me out of buying an icon setup. I had a few issues with them before, but they did ride great and with everything going on they’re the easiest to get quickly. I want kings, but don’t want to wait 5 months or more for them. I can get the icons and find a set of heavier springs fairly easy.

That being said, I would probably still switch them out eventually to kings, but I want better performance and the ability to go ahead and add bumpers soon as my current lift won’t hold the weight well.

I wouldn't buy Icons with your money.

I’m just getting impatient. I want to order bumpers, but the current lift isn’t made for the weight so it’ll have to be switched out anyway. I just hate to have a bunch of money spent on something I’ll have to wait so long for. I guess I could just get a heavy ome setup that’ll hold the weight to hold me over until the kings come in and deal with the firmness for the time being.

Order your Kings and do other smaller mods while you wait. They will be here before you know it.

I’m with Tex. May will be here quick, spend the time tweaking other mods and spend that saved money on something else you were debating getting.
