I am interested in sourcing a Troopy, FZJ or HZJ 75 or 78. I am most interested some type of trade deal, looking for someone who recognizes the value of the time, effort and quality that has gone into this LC and wants to offer a Troopy, completed or potential, of comparable value.

6/2011 - (215,532 miles) Purchased, conversion done in California, unknown miles on 12HT
2012 - (217,000) Began restoration at reputable LC shop in Florida. (Precise milage at the time restoration began is a bit unclear.)
$15K rebuild of 12HT, rebuild injection pump
G-Turbo, custom SS exhaust
New H55, transfer case and twin stick
4+ suspension and shackle reversal
Cable locking differentials
Disc brakes all around, hydraulic "emergency " brake locks
Kaymar rear bumper
4+ front bumper
custom modified 8274
Long range fuel tank
(5) Stockton Wheel 16x8 (no spacers)
Red line rock sliders and rear quarter protection, (welded to frame)
prime and paint ( changed color from Red to beige)
Dynamat interior including roof
New headliner
Re upholster Ricaro front (leather) and back seat (vinyl)
New carpet kit
D Stern head lamp upgrade controller
Cadillac horns
Wagon gear tailgate storage and cargo side panels
2013- Project complete
6/2014 - (219,664) 1,997 on rebuild, more brake work, never satisfied with the brake job.
4/2015- Rebuild 3rd member and new wheel bearings
2017- shipped rig to Colorado, plan was to use my frame and drive train and a 2010 79 series (Cab/ bed + mine truck) I had acquired. Long story short I got cold feet. Decided not to go forward.
Instead:
Restored to original Freeborn red. Proper repair of A pillar corrosion and roof gutter. Super high quality/ professional paint restoration from a reputable shop.
Removed engine- Vortex lined engine bay
Complete rebuild of entire braking system, ( front discs - drums in the rear)
Powder coated rims / new Cooper 255/85 R16 / 10STA
2020 - The Year of the Covid- Spring - my LC was returned to me in Florida.
8/2020 - (232,670) 15,760 total miles on rebuilt 12HT
2021 - Mostly because I was bored:
Rebuilt G-Turbo and ceramic coat
Rebuilt injectors
Hot-Jet coat exhaust manifold and heat shields, all new gaskets and o-rings
Rebuilt starter
New alternator
(2) new batteries
R/R steering Tie-rod ends and dampener
New (used) dash
1/2022- (233,191) miles on the odometer. 16,191 miles on the LC in 10 years, shameful indeed!

Looks like a really nice truck. What's a comparable value for reference? That could be a pretty wide range...

Only interested in trades or would you sell? Throw up a price if so.

Looks like a really nice truck. What's a comparable value for reference? That could be a pretty wide range...
To me the value of the truck is more than the sum total of the effort and receipts. Which is why we do this, we value the rig more than the money. Which is fine until you have to justify it to another, convince someone else to value it the same way you do. I got to the stage with this 60 series where I wanted to set it up for overland travel. I soon came to the conclusion that I would like more interior space and I didn't like the idea of a RTT attached to my roof gutters. Thus my LC lost some of it's value to me.
"What is comparable value"? is ultimately a negotiation between two interested parties.Just follow the auctions to that play out. ( I thought that the "original" 94 FZJ truck that just sold was worth more than $38.5K)
That said from my perspective, I would consider an imported 1985-1997, LH Troopy in original condition, with a solid frame and body worthy of consideration. Thanks for your interest. Dirk

if that is nice as it looks that is worth trading for three or four 70's.

That is indeed a nice truck. I noticed in the description that the engine was rebuilt for 15k, including pump and all. I can't help but wonder, is it really that much to rebuild an engine??
I mean a good rebuild kit with toyo bearings, pistons etc can't be more than 3 or 4k. The pump can be done for another thou. So what do these shops charge? 10k to do the work? I am a little shocked! Sorry for high jacking, GLWTS. I wish I had a 70 to trade!

$15K on "12HT rebuild" could be a bit misleading, though unintended. Looks like I spent $13,170 to have the engine removed, rebuilt, then re installed. Plus another $1,722. to have the injection pump rebuilt. ( documented on another receipt)
I recon I should move this post over to the 60 series classified section, and prepare to take my lashings. Notable that the LC Specialists and Resto Shops are first to tar and feather a guy when he attempts to claim that all the money spent in their shops has some how increased the value of his rig.

Was the body work and paint done in CO?
