Hi FJ40 Owners:
It's been awhile since I posted, and I'm getting back into a restoration project after a long break. My 78 2F engine that came with my 76 FJ40 needs some of the springs and linkages for the standard Toyota carburetor that came with the 78 2F engine. I can find rebuild kits, but none of them come with any of the linkages or springs and my engine is missing some and has a few stretched out / broken springs. Any thoughts on where to find replacements for those parts without having to replace the entire carburetor at this point? Sorry if this is a repeat question but I haven't had a lot of time to search for this in a previous post.

Get one of the $75 aftermarket carbs from
amazon, rob everything you need off it, then toss the rest.

About any hardware store a drawer full of assorted spring or you can buy them on Amoron.

Good, welcome back. So, a '78 2F into a '76 40? should be no problem. Except it probably is otherwise the PO would have done it. Is one a linkage type and the other a cable type? That always happens. I bet that if you were slightly more specific about just which spring and what type of linkage you are looking for all your dreams would come true and you could drive your rig. I can think of at least one village elder who probably knows exactly what you need. Close-up still photos of just exactly what you have right now are always helpful and appreciated. You might get lucky too, Sometimes, people kinda save crap just in case somebody needs it someday and would be pleased as punch to just mail it off for the price of a padded envelope.
