Source for cheap "backup camera" (any camera) without guide lines?

Anyone have recommendations on a cheap camera without guide lines? I'm setting up a 4-up camera for backup, undercarriage, passenger side and.. (who knows)

The $15 backup cameras on Amazon are *perfect* but most of the models I've received have absolutely humongous guide lines.

2/5 or so that I've bought (same SKU) have been much higher quality with high low light visibility and thin blue guide lines.

I may have to buy a bunch of these until I get the right ones

I think it's hilarious you can't even rely on buying the same thing to get the same product.

Actually important update: backup cameras have reversed horizontal images.. so it's very confusing seeing the road on the left side when the camera is on the passenger side :)

I'm going to have to roll the dice on something else.

I created this thread some time ago https://forum.ih8mud.com/electronic-toys/592398-rear-view-camera-without-distance-lines.html

I still have not found a consistent source, I have ordered ones from ebay that I thought didn't have the lines, but ended up having them.

Ah, you posted the exact same thing.. oops!

I'm scrapping backup cameras altogether.. they are made to flip the horizontal picture so that when facing backwards, things on your right appear on the right side of the screen.

I'm most likely going to buy some outdoor surveillance cameras and use that.. but which ones? That is the question.

The cost is through the roof vs backup cameras and they tend to be much bulkier. Mounting them is going to be a bit of an issue if they are not so small.

I bought this one based on a previous similar thread:

I put it on the front of my cruiser and it works great. Resolution and picture quality isn't the greatest but it's definitely usable.

I can confirm that there are NO distance lines and the picture is NOT reversed -- unless you want it to be. The camera has a couple extra wires you can hook up if you do want those two "features" activated.

Oh wow! The picture is NOT reversed as well?? I saw this product in the referenced thread that the backup lines were removable, but didn't hear about the image reversal thing.

Yeah it's very very confusing when you're turning left, and the image is showing a right hand turn :)

I just bought it.. thanks for the heads up. If I like it, I will buy 2 more!

I am probably going to get that camera, the only thing I don't like is that I could get 3 ebay cameras for that price!

I hate the fact that whoever is making the cheap cameras is putting the reverse lines/images on all of them regardless of the fact that the lines don't help anyone and are just a distraction.

There are products in the film industry that allow you to flip and flop images. That are all SDI (BNC cables) but my guess is it may be too pricey of a solution considering you are looking at $25 cameras.

I just received this.. it's AWESOME!! My god.. I can actually intuitively tell where things are. Plus its a backup camera so waterproof and small.

Buying 2 more.

Thanks you guys! Future readers: buy this.

Hey Yuji let us know where you end up mounting the cameras, especially in the front. I've got mine stuck in the front grill. I want to mount it somewhere lower so I can see obstacles in front of the tires but I haven't really found a good place yet. I'm interested to see what you end up with.

Why no distance lines? Just preference?

Well I put "backup camera" in quotes because I mean to use them as front facing cameras (or side).

I just found that backup cameras were the only reliable source of very small, waterproof cameras.
Also, the backup lines are HUGE and bright which clutters the 4-up display.

Finally their worst issue was discovered later.. which is that the image is reveresed.
Luckily the product posted above is perfect for this application! You can remove lines and image reversal!

the distance lines are useless in my opinion, they never line up correctly and just look bad.

I also want to use cameras as side/rear facing cameras, so I don't mind it being reversed, but I don't want the useless distance lines!
