source for 3b alternator vacuum pump feed hose

I recently replaced my 3b alt vacuum pump oil feed hose and the hydraulic shop crimped new hose onto the banjo fitting ends. well i just noticed it has a slight seep. what have others done for replacement of this hose? I cant seem to find any shop with metric banjo fittings.

Hi Roma

A good shop should be able to reuse the old fittings without having them leak.

But if they've butchered one of your old fittings I suggest buying another used hose and trying again ... but using a more competent shop.

I like the "bling" of stainless braiding on those hoses:

You could use 10mm (or 3/8ths) banjo to -3an fittings and and have a hose made or buy one with female -3an fittings.

Or you could just have a hose made with 10mm or 3/8ths banjo fittings.

You see the whole hose with fitting on ebay sometimes. Other diesels like Isuzu may use something similar.
A 2H hose might also work if you can track down one of them

I was hoping to find a source for a new direct fit replacement but maybe that's asking too much. I found banjo fittings with an fittings on the other end. Then it would be a simple hose any shop can make. Anyone know if its a 10mm or 8mm banjo? I won't have a chance to measure until tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas guys



Here is what started leaking. This hose was connected using band-it clamps and I'm actually not sure if the hose or the clamp is leaking.

Turns out jegs sells metric banjo fittings with an-4 ends. Got those for 8 dollars each and then for a steel braided line made for ten bucks. Steel braided hose is rated for 450 degrees farenheit and some crazy pressure so should be overkill. Cost me 26 dollars total. Oh and the -an hose is readily available in my area so problem solved. Thanks for all the help.

hi, i'm in the same situation with the oil return line ( the bigger one) leaking from the hose to hose barb connection.
can you clear something up for me.
10 mm banjo setup is for the smaller oil feed line?
would the larger hose be 12mm banjo to ? size hose?

I think the oil return line is a 14mm banjo fitting. It measures about 14mm I.D.

i called summit racing and asked for what would replace 3/8th hose and he said it would be -an6.
still shopping around with all them choices. except couldn't find any local hydraulic shop available to do the job.
i cut the crimp on the original and did the best i can with hose clamps for a temporary fix since i replaced the front gear cover and wanted to see if it fixed the leak.
but the return line still puddles up on the top of the hose.
wondering that it might be leaking from the hose barb. i see little bubbles just before the hose but couln't get too close without getting hot motor oil in my face.
Mr. Lostmarbles, did your line come with banjo fitting on both end, or did you fabricate them yourselves.?
i'll keep uptodate hope fully have something to share worth reading.
the front cover seems to stop leaking, but now my edic is jammed on the 'shut-off' position and not responding to the switch.

When I first got my OEM vac pump oil hoses replaced with stainless braided ones, the industrial/marine hose specialist fitted new banjos to the braided lines and never said anything about having problems sourcing them.

Those braided lines are actually a bit stiff for my liking. They're teflon hoses underneath the braiding if I remember correctly ... And that's the material they recommended for a "hot pressured oil" application.

However one of their hoses started to weep oil at one of the crimped joints soon after I fitted it and I eventually took it back to them for a replacement. (It took me a while to work out where I thought the oil was coming from because it was a very slow weep and I wasn't positive of the source even then.)

I didn't say anything about their work being substandard because of my doubts about the source of the weep and because I felt I had allowed too much time to elapse before coming back to them with a problem.

So I just asked them to make me another hose.

However this second time (despite it being the very same branch of the very same company) they said they couldn't get new banjos and had to reuse the old ones off my OEM sample hose.

Working on my Diesel42 turbo install and need to replace the ragged oil supply and return hoses for vacuum pump. All I can find is brake lines and not sure if a hydraulic hose would have ID large enough. What have yall done for replacing these 2. The 10mm supply and 14mm return banjo fittings can be found with 3an ends but I still cannot find any prefab hose with 3an ends except brake hoses again.
