While I'm no expert on LVs, that license plate looks like it belongs to a Bronze Star recipient, which is the kind of guy I would want to do business with!

That LV looks great! I love the colors, they look to be original.

yeah the guy who owns the LV is stationed in the Japan so he must be in the armed forces......

and yes I do believe those to be the original colors.

JP,

The only thing I've read about FJ45LVs is that because only 1500 were sold in the US, the factory stamped replacement sheetmetal (like floorpans) are hard if not impossible to come by. On the other hand, they were built with steel nearly as thick as the Mercedes, so they are real tanks and that rust on the rear should sand out nicely, leaving lots of metal.

I am now in lust mode.

Beauty

That is gorgeous. In great shape. Hope y'all get it.

you are correct david, very low numbers it was actually closer to 1,000 produced and only about 160 have been accounted for as of now......... so body parts are basically non existant, that is what makes this one so rare, it isn't a rusket bucket like most others I have seen........ it had to have come from out west some where.

I think that may be the key to the purchase decision. If the fellow who owns it got it out west (while stationed at some dry, desert Army base), you may have found the best possible vehicle. (That would be my best guess based on the bronze star and still active duty) Since it is probably an F engine, you will be able to get all engine parts you need from regular sources.

I still have my goggles and am ready to hit it with a wire brush like we did Alex's 40. Get your dad to sign up for HAMOM immediately, or you may wish to take your's back from my pal Andy (just kidding Andy!). Tell him PBR is the HAMOM beer of choice.

all this talk has got my hopes, up I am going to be heart broken if this doesn't workout... :frown:

My dad plans are to eventually make this a car show truck, he said it won't ever see trail actoin, it will be a base camp only type vehicle............ which strangely enough I agree with because these things are to few and far between to basking around like we do with our other cruisers

Great! Then I will have some company at base camp with my '82. Most appropriate since your dad and I are the same age!

I'd give JP back him HAMOM in a heartbeat, for this 45 or any other reason!!

PBR isn't a problem. I think I already have a large quantity in the downstairs fridge. Does that mean you plan on attending counselor??

please please, something beside PBR......... how about some hoegargen or some kind of stout, a gentleman of my mechanical abilities requires a very rich and cultured beer

No worries my friend. You place the order, it will cold and ready when you arrive. Was really angling to get a keg for this thing but I'm not sure my 40 would ever be the same working with a tapped keg nearby and only 4-5 of us. Are you and Sammy Smith fan? Oatmeal Stout, Imperial Stout, Nut Brown Ale??

That goes for the food too. Your wish is my command!!

Sir Andrew of the Lager,

Saturday is my daughter's 5th Birthday, so if I come I will probably be a wee bit late. I have been following the HAMOM thread and don't see my specialty listed (undercarriage rust removal). This is why PBR is prefered over those heavier beers - - the rust particles won't float in PBR and add much needed taste.

PM me with your address and I will try and show up! May have a 5 year old in tow . . . .

Man, that's a big day!! Happy birthday wishes from Charlotte!

I'll PM my address. Luckily no rust detail on Saturday but plenty of other fun things to do. PBR will definitely help with those activities, too. :D

You all are welcome to come and go whenever it suits you...

well the gentlman informed me today he had a change of heart and could no longer part with the LV :frown: to say the least I was a little bummed. I had hoped to have the LV at the pig roast to show off............ now the focus has turned to a much less original LV in texas. It has had PS, 2F, and disc. brake axle added to it........ which themselves are good things, but in this case they take away from the originalness of the LV. we'll see how it goes hopefully I can still get my pops in an LV before too long
