Help, cannot figure out the bolt/screw size for the top of the windshield. The seven predrilled holes. I've tried 7m, too small and 8m seems big? Don't want to crank them in if i'm wrong

What year truck? Are they threaded or just drilled for sheet metal screws? Perhaps they're not OEM? Maybe they're SAE?

By the way, it helps to have the year/model in your sig line.

Over 7 MM hole sounds like a later model that only has the OEM holes but no welded nuts. My 79 and a 80 windshield I have only has the OEM holes no welded nuts. As I remember these use the same bolts used to secure the hard top of a welded nut is present. If the hole only would install nutserts.

I’m thinking the same thing John. If there are threaded holes, they are 6mm. If they are larger, chances are they are not threaded, and will not properly secure the soft top channel without nutserts.

Is your wiper motor mounted up top?Can you see threaded nuts behind the holes?

Most likely 65swb45 and LITP are spot on, you have a later WS frame with 7 x .25” holes. Here’s a discussion on how a few of us added threaded nuts.

Sorry, It is a later 71, the wiper motor is on the bottom and definitely not threaded.
