So, my sister is in Los Angeles. She needs to replace the shift lever gasket (I knew it would bite me to not replace it when I had the tranny out).

Long story short, she's had really, really bad service from Hollywood Toyota, so it's definitely not going back there. They told her about $200 to replace the transmission shift lever gasket (a $28 part). Either way, they suck big time from the service she received earlier, so it's not going back there.

So, Los Angeles area guys.... any recommendations? (yes, I searched)

I'll 2nd the recommendation for Mark's.

I've been buying stuff from him for years, always pleased.

He has a pretty busy workload so tell you sister that it may take a while to get in touch with him, but he always call back.

I just bought a crapload of stuff from him myself for my new FJ45.

Check his ebay auctions, he may well have the part you need listed. 65swb45 is his ebay name.

Yeah, I'm instructing her to stay with MUD folk....

After the dealer, and a Pep-Boys (she didn't ask me...) who argued that there was no such part, I think she'll just hang on until one of these guys can get to it.

Luckily, a 1tbsp a day leak isn't going to hurt her transmission anytime soon.
