Just so you know, the road going out to Coon Creek is dirt and may get a little rough. You don't need 4wd, but some ground clearance is a plus. Something to keep in mind if you were planning on taking the Prius :D

Disclaimer: I have only been there once a few years ago and that was my observation, so I may be completely out of touch with current conditions.

Damn, well there goes my plan of taking my lowered honda civic.
I just bought the Harbor Freight Badland 12k winch an hour ago, came with a free 2 year warranty plus free wireless remote, came out to $323 :D
I hope it doesn't do what a lot of harbor freight tools do.

I say rock the civic! What's the worst that can happen???? Ha!

You should be fine with that winch. I know a bunch of Jeep guys that run that exact winch and I havn't heard of one having an issue. I'm running the Rough Country version of that winch. They are made in the same factory in China. I have used and abused my winch for a couple years with zero issues.

This is what happened to my Civic at 4am last Sunday.
I heard a crash around 4, went back to sleep. Woke up at 4:30am for work, came out to find that mess.
I thought someone towed my car bc I had a black bumper, but I saw a gray bumper car... HAHAHA!!!
Now, I need to find another commuter, I drove the cruiser to work saturday and sunday, 80 mile round trip is burning my wallet.
How many miles are you guys getting out of one full tank? Last time I drove it home from Vegas, I had to refill around 250miles, of course it was hot as hell and there were big hills.

That sucks! Had a similar thing happen to me also with a civic I had. Someone side swiped it in the middle of the night. Someone must have seen it so the guy left a note with a bad phone number. I woke up, called it, and got a Very old man that had no idea what I was talking about. Gotta love some people !

Anyhow, nothing a few beverages, good food, good friends and a few land cruisers can't help with on the weekend of the 21st!

Well put, it will be a great weekend!

I had my dates mixed up so I can actually make it on the 21st. Not sure about camping but definitely in for the day.

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD App

Sweet!

Btw- I booked it for Friday and Saturday nights. So let me know if anyone is up for both nights some can keep the reservation as is or adjust. I am taking that Friday off and would love to make it a two nighter if folks are up for it.

Sean, you have list yet? I am in for the 21st. I was planning on rolling up Friday for a 2 nights.

I will only be coming up Saturday. I planned to camp Fri-Sun. but my wife just told me she has some unkown plans for my birthday Sunday so I need to come home Saturday night and it's not worth the hassle to just camp Friday night only. That's a LOT of packing to just drive 20 minutes and un pack it all. I should be up to the camp site around 8ish and will stay the whole day. I will be bringing my 3 year old with me. I'm looking forward to meeting some new faces. Were we thinking fishing, offroading, or a little of both? The local stream (South Fork of Santa Ana River) will be stocked the day before we get there so the local fishing should be pretty good.

I'm in for both nights unless I can talk the orthopedic surgeon into doing a partial on my right knee and then it'll depend on surgery schedule. May as well knock both of the knees out while on disability. Left knee is doing great, but I won't know for sure until I see the surgeon on Aug. 26th. Really want to get the trailer and new to me Globetrotter out for a first trip for sure!

Come on. Throw a sleeping bag in the truck and come up on Friday!

So my wife doesn't want to take my baby bc he's 10 months.
Is it cool if I bring a few friends?

Ya, probably not a good idea to take the little one. I think we are limited to 25 people so a few friends should be ok.

Agreed, so long as it's not a frat party. Sorry - had a bad experience at Surf-N-Turf a few years back with a Landcruiser guy bringing 'a few friends' and it was nothing but drunken beer bash. Just don't want to see that happen. We're a pretty mellow group.
