Talked with the ExPo guys and they are meeting at 9 a.m. at the Discovery Center parking lot (just east of Fawnskin off 38). They have a pretty tight schedule, so their 9 a.m. meet time is pretty solid. If anyone else wants to, I'm gonna meet up with them at 9, check out some of their vehicles, and then meet up at Fawnskin at 10.

I am very interested in this!!!! Room for one more??? I would like to camp..... Let me know guys... thanks!

Brian:

Looks like Juniper Springs is way away from the trails? I am guessing we will want to run Dishpan Springs, Holcomb Creek and John Bull, no?

Last time we ran the trails in Big Bear we camped at Crab Flats. They have lots of availability and its located right by the trails.

Heads up we should grab these sites now before they are gone, 7 , 9, 10 & 12 are all right by each other and are good camp sites.

To me it doesnt matter which site we camp at. I just wanna cruise and camp. Put me down for one truck.

Yeah Crab Flats is another option/closer to those trails….might be a bit more busy/crowed than JS which is right next to the night run I had in mind on Heartbreak Ridge (2n61Y) …up to Onyx Summit.

Would be a blast to run JB,HC,DS + Heartbreak..my 4 favorite trails up here.

I'm fine camping either location or even going primitive, so if you guys want to book sites go for it.

Brian

I made sliders for the trailer so crab flats is ok... as long as the road didn't wash out this year again... Hey mabe I can talk Cathy into tent camping and avoid the trouble...

Does Crab Flats operate like Hanna Flats? Last time I was there (Sept. '06) there was a 2 vehicles per site rule and anything greater you had to pay extra. Does anybody know the exact rules for Crab Flats?

I think there is a strict two car max policy, the main thing is they don't want cars blocking the road.

Last time I was there was with you guys. Tare, Nick and I all parked in one camp spot and they guy who was looking after the campgroud was cool with it, like Moe said, as long as we wern't blocking the road.

Braden good to see you finally signed in. If you want post your information in the "The Official Checkin Thread of SoCal 80s" and e-mail me three pictures.

Not sure if I looked at it wrong but 7, 9, 10 & 12 are all still available for Saturday. I am going to grab 10 & 12, these are great sites because they have nice shade and are close to the bath rooms. Brian if you can change yours to 7 or 9, If not it’s really not a big deal you are still really close to us. It’s just that you site does not have much shade.

******Update I just grabed 10 & 12.*******

Looking near ideal :) weather wise , great time to run the trails before the crowds stack things up from the winter changes.

Thinking about the following depending on who shows:

Gold Mountain, John Bull Trail (3N69 to 3N10), Holcomb Creek Trail (3N93-2N06 Loop) Dish Pan Springs Trail (2N26Y to 3N34), Onyx Summit Trail (2N61 to 2N70)

Fire restrictions yet? Bring some wood if not and meat for the bbq feast.
