So...what is yet another great thing about an 80 series?

Like the pop top Leon. Seriously considering it?

I wouldn't say seriously considering but intrigued enough to do some research on it.

Here is another cool 80 project

See, it makes us sad enough when you post pictures of the 70 series we can't have... And then that 70 also has tall skinny tires, that we also can't have in America. Double sucky.

There have been a bunch of cool fj40's on CL lately too, may want to check those out.

If I ever was to get an FJ80, it was going to get a 5.3 vortec crammed down it's throat right away. Much lighter, better economy, and 325 HP right out of the box. It's just really dang hard to find one with a blown engine.

This is something i have decided will happen. I have thought of selling the 80 numerous times but cant justify spending the kind of money that would give me the space and comfort thats good enough for us to sleep in. The capability to go just about anywhere except where a buggy goes. The rock solid reliability of the 80. Only downside is fuel economy of a big block with performance of a 22re :grinpimp:

Once this car is done, I will be looking into doing it for the 80 as well if anyone is interested?

Here's what I found...

2002 LC with Hail Damage: http://www.patriotmotorsinc.com/detail.aspx?id=3530402&PrefID=9474&.aspx

More like hail and a crazed ex wielding a big ball peen hammer. HUGE dents all over, broken plastic/trim, .....really rough.

Really nice LX450. One owner, 118,000 miles: http://www.peakautobrokers.com/newandusedcars.aspx?ClearAll=1&~

Guy told me it had lockers, when I got there, it did not. Super clean, probably too clean. :D

One owner with almost 200,000 & LOCKED! : http://www.cobestusedcars.com/detail.aspx?id=3400884&PrefID=13136&.aspx

Door frozen shut, so didn't get a good look at it. Busted windshield, busted pass. seat, clean-ish interior. Would have to drive to get a good feeling either way. Sold on consignment, so not much wiggle room on price.

I'm starting to think that if I really want an 80, I'll have to get rid of the 55...

Was wondering how bad that 100 was

Yeah... I was thinking if I was going to dent up a 100, why not do it to a hail damaged one. But, it was REAL bad. Window moldings bashed and banged up. "Hail" dents so hard that it split/cracked the paint and rust was forming. Interior was nice. :)

I went through the same mixed emotions about my FJ40, and ultimately I sold it because I didn't want to be that attached to a vehicle and not be able to ever move on. I feel your pain. I'm confused at why you were looking at another 100 series? I know you want something a little more capable, and maybe more upgrade able. It's also nice to have something you can get a dent in without stressing. You'll figure out what's right for you.

Hold on tight to the 55 and an 80 or 100 will find you.

Yeah, got a little nauseous when I though of getting rid of the 55.
:D

I think I would pull the trigger at $2k :hhmm:

He said the front bumper rubs when driving and that one of the 285 Duratracs is destroyed... and the spare is a 265. Here are a few pics the guy sent me today.
