I really, really, really want to go and plan to. I will have to talk the :princess: into it (which I think I can) and also have to make sure it is at a good time for me to be away from the restaurant. Do we know what the dates are yet for it? I have always wanted to camp on the beach and what a better place to do than with a bunch of cruiser and cruiserheads around me. We should all try to ride up together (i know that I am stating the obvious).

Brent, I would love to but I am not sure where I will be work wise. There is a chance I may be back at work and if so at a new job. Might look bad to ask for time off right after I start. I may be thinking optimistic but I will have to wait and see closer to the date.

Snt Nov. 3-5th

SnT is the first weekend in November.....and it is an event I recommend EVERYONE who can to attend. It is not technical and very user friendly when it comes to getting out there and having a good time. :D

It was my hook line and sinker and sealed my fait as a TLCA member and addict.:D

I am doing all I can to insure that I can make it this year, due to school, but I am confident in my goal to be in the surf and sand.

This year Christo Slee has said that he will be coming down to the event as well as all of the other awesome and unbelievable venders, friends, and family.

SO bring the wife, kids, and dog b/c there is something for Everyone, if you have never done the camping thing try it if not there are motels just outside the dunes and it is a great reminder of a different angle and approach to the Lancruiser world where you do more hanging out and relaxing(with a beverage of course) than anything else.

Bring the Tequilla Jim not many (if any) rocks and ledges in Pismo.

OH! and if you have not had the honor and pleasure to meet Jim (PismoJim) and his lovely wife Katherine and see how they can put and event on that in and of itself is reason to make the journey.

Sammy:beer:

PS when's the last time you remember playing in the sand (swing at the park with the kids don't count)?:flipoff2:

Does making an obstacle course at the beach to drive my sons monster truck toys on myself count? It sounds like alot more fun with full size cruisers and fellow addicts. I will be trying my best to make it.

I usually drive up very early Saturday morning. Generally leave about 4-5am and that puts me at SnT around 9 to 10. Just about the time lots of folks from the evening before are just getting up if you know what I mean. I also look at the tide charts for the best time to hit the beach at low tide in case the creek is actually running to the ocean. Bitch to cross some years if at high tide.

Never have wanted to fight the LA traffic on Friday evening. That wouldn't put me into SnT until after midnight.

Mo - if you aren't working weekends that would work wouldn't it? Sunday mornings are pretty relaxed, head over to Pozo if we want for a tri-tip sandwich and then head home trying to beat the really nasty traffic south of Santa Barbara. Generally home late afternoon, early evening Sunday.

SnT is only as challenging as you want it. If you want to fly the dunes like Sam, you can. If you just want to cruise the dunes, you can. The organized poker run around noon is fun and Jim does a great job of laying out the run so you really get a good tour of the dunes. Very relaxing. Fun to hang and watch the guys that do try to emulate Sam in the air. Lots of great rigs, people, food, wine, spirits............

Like Sam, SnT 2004 was my real first trip and intro to all this. One look at my truck says the rest. I have a beautiful pic of a, then, stock truck at sunset on the beach which is still one of my all time favorites from all the trips I've now taken. She ain't stock no more! You must be very careful looking at all the truck candy. You don't want to leave with too much truck envy or ideas. The spouses will hate you for that and forbid further such adventures.

Sam - great to hear that Christo may make it - bringing shortbus? This event has drawn folks from Texas and Canada IIRC! It's become very popular as a non sanctioned TLCA event.

I'm really hoping to make this one. The wife loves camping at the beach, so no problem there. I've perused the photos from past SnTs and it looks like a great time. For those wondering about the date, here's this year's logo.

I will be there as usual, been to the last 3

:D

Also for the newbies - Jim usually posts this up in the Trails section as time gets closer. He sells T-shirts, sweatshirts and stickers each year on a preorder basis if you want to make sure you get what you want. He usually has some extras, but not many.

Brent, you're making me blush here. Thank you for the kind words:D .

He will probably 5th wheel whatever he is bringing down. If he does drive probably bring the silver rig he just finished up in time for Moab. So to answer, I don't know what he is bringing...maybe both..now that would be cool.

Blush - hell - I'm reporting you to the FAA. Both our trucks have changed a great deal since we met at SnT in 2004, and I'll never forget your offer, suggestion to remove my stock running boards before we hit Millers either!

Probably turbo 100 series with King Kamper. We just did 1100 miles in the ShortBus doing the Ultimate Adventure and not really ready to get back in it.

Since this is more about the  and not the wheeling the 100 will do better on the road trip. Might bring the VlakVark if we decide to turbo it.

yup, planning to go -again-. Good times. (Except for the idiot teenagers drunk on ATVs and body-lifted pickups...)

for those of you who have never been in sand before, I didn't know what to expect and was thinking I'd get stuck all the time. Well, didn't happen once, and I tried some serious dunes, some I couldn't get over, but still didnt' get stuck in place. 80 just awesome!

Other lessons: MT/Rs and ATs just fine too; and popup was fine in the sand as well...

Overall, I was surprised at how easy these sand dunes were to negotiate. I don't know what's with all these photos of guys always stuck in sand in the Sahara etc. Maybe it's coarser sand at Pismo?

Oh, and this is one event where a stock truck is at no disadvantage. If anything, the street tires may help, so, you stockers, go for it!

Excellent, Looks like I may be able to make it either way. I always forget that Pismo is not that far. Sounds like a great time that should not be missed.

Probably lots of folks looking forward to meeting you Christo! Glad you are coming.

I will be there, would not miss it. Christo, nice to hear you are coming out to it this year. Defiantly bring the VlakVark, I want to see that thing in person.
