Freezing rain in six mile right now. I was thinking about driving up to Highlands in the morning and getting a cup of coffee at Buck's, anybody want to go?

BTW, I stopped by Whee last week and it's gated until March

I just drove from TR up 25 to Gap Creek and Jones Gap Rds and back down 276. The roads were fine. A little snow on Gap Creek Rd and no cars in the ditches that I could pull out. I did pass a Duke Power truck followed by a State Trooper on Gap Creek near 276. Looks like the precip is turning into freezing rain in TR righ now.

Chad - I might venture out tomorrow but I have to get some work done in the morning. Feel free to call. I'm turnng in now though.

Since there's NOTHING at the house now, might pack the family in the Cruiser and go up towards Asheville to play in the snow. If it turns out to be just me playing in the Cruiser, I'll post up...

Just went for a cruise around the outskirts of Asheville. Interstate is in good shape, some of the side roads not so much. a lot of cars stranded, some partially blocking the roads.

I'm going to head back out in a couple of hours to explore a bit. I drove around TR for a couple of hours this morning and couldn't find too much trouble to get into. The ice is pretty heavy right now on local roads that don't get much traffic.

Roads around TR are now pretty clear - even my subdivision road that doesn't receive much traffic. Maybe I can find some trouble tomorrow in NC.

A friend just said he went up 276 into NC and back down Gap Creek and it was hairy. Looks like I know where I'm going tomorrow.

This lil buck and his mommy stopped by Saturday.
They munched in the herb garden for a bit.
Both deer are in the left hand corner of the wide shot.

The FJ60 was handy for sweeping the trees out of the way in the driveway.

Took the family up to Hendersonville today. Stopped at a small church and let everyone out. About 6-8 inches of snow. Jessie our dog had the most fun time. SHe just put her nose under the snow and ran as fast as she could plowing it up.

Josie had a blast as well. Her first real snow. Even Jocassee got into the action rolling around in the snow for a very short stint. EVen got the cruiser out in some fresh powder on the way back.

Well not 30 minutes after my last post the power went out and is still out- I am at work right now. Went driving friday night- had about 8-10" of snow with a nice under layer of ice, cars abandoned everywhere. Major roads and some secondary are cleared, but the ice is real bad.

I drove around Asheville yesterday. Main roads were clear - side roads had some slush and ice. I wish I had more time to head deer into the mountains.
