Was driving down the road everything fine and motor shuts off. Check and there is no spark. Replaced the coil nothing. Check fuses and power to the coil and everything is good. Only has a few hundred miles on new dui setup. Anyone have suggestions where to check next. Maybe the pickup.

72 fj40 original F
Has sniper efi

Thanks

Sometimes, just jumping 12 volts straight to the coil, and by-passing the keyed switch and under dash wiring helps. I know nothing about sniper.

I’ve had a bad batch of the ignition module in the distributor under the rotor. 2 in about 150 miles. @wngrog just had a bad one as well. They are pretty sensitive to low voltage. Fuel pump prime takes some amperage at startup. I’ll be bumping up the battery to as many CCA as I can fit.

Kinda troubleshooted it and thats the last thIng. Just sucks when you spend $450 on a brand new distributor for it to go out in that short of tIme.

Is the DUI module and different than the ones at O'Reillys

There seems to be a theme with the newer installed distributors and the Snipers. I swapped in an older module and it seems to be fine. What’s your voltage look like when you crank it over for the first time of the day?

I don’t run one but I thought I recently read a post on the DUI and a burned out module where the said they ran a more generic one successfully.. Might try a deeper search via google. (I think I would start to carry a spare). Good luck.

Almost all batteries drop voltage when you put the amp draw to them. I have a 2F and have like 1000 CCA battery. It is bigger than the battery box - so I stuck a cut board under it so it would sit flat and not be sitting on the corner angle stressing the battery's bottom. Second I put on new 2/0 cables with cast on ends. Red+ to the starter, black - to a bolt on the engine. I used the old 2 size black to go from that bolt to the frame ground under the brake line tee. I ran a #10 black wire from the frame ground up to the cowl. Really cranks much better. Very Happy with them

Changed the module and it started better than when I first put the new distributor in. Wonder if it was weak from day one. I emailed them to see if they will send me a replacement.
