Cant get it out. Pulled the other side shaft, and made a tool to

get past the crosspin to try and hammer out the broken stub. no

dice. Any other ideas? I am thinkimg I am gonna have to

fabricate a removable cover like on my FJ62 semi-float, pull the

crosspin and beat it the heck outta there?:meh:

sounds like you twisted the spines on the shaft .
I know Slee and some others have done this and ended up cutting a window in the housing to get it out

But they were the long spline axles on the OEM locked 80s

If it's a locker and if it's the RH shaft the splines are probably twisted like Koffer said. Gotta cut a hole in the housing and cut the dog clutch sleeve off of the shaft.

I'm not surprised with 39 inch tires and 5.29 gears.

This may be a dumb question, but based on his sig line, would you weld a rear w/ lockers??

I think that is in reference to his bumper. Welding a rear diff is a cheap way to permanently lock your rear end and it would not be streetable.

seems all his rigs get 'Lincoln locked";)

Why not? Lots of welded diffs are run on the street.

depends how stuck it is but ive seen a mate pull his front axle which looked like yours with a very strong magnet on a slide/pole just put tape around the out side when sliding it in so it dosnt stick so much when sliding it in

Probably the same reason most people don't drive their trucks on pavement with the e-locker engaged. It's my understanding that you would get chirps around corners and cause excessive tire wear.

I've seen welded rears driven on the street but they were on hillbilly high school kid chevy's and fords. So it is "streetable" but it seems far from ideal.

Is anyone here actually running a welded rear diff on a DD?

I know tons of rigs that run welded rears on the street. Kyles is the first 80 i've seen it done on but i've personally seen this truck and heard it on the street and it isn't that bad. Heck lots of people run Aussies all the time on the street.
I used to have a 68 camaro with 500 hp and a welded rear..... wasn't unbareable on the street.

Kyle I am now knocking on wood that I don't do the exact same thing to my SF rear this saturday when the rest of us head up there.

It is welded. My GF drives it all the time, and she doesnt even notice. I like it much better than a drop-in locker that pops bangs and ratchets.

I have more pics at home, just gotta re-size and I'll post 'em up later.

Stay off the vertical rock faces then :D

Kyle that sucks. I tried finding a thread by member DanKunz where he twisted up the axle in the avacado but can find it. Ole Greg and I tried that face a couple times with no success (except gouging the top side of an ARB???) ITs a heck of a climb for a big heavy pig but my buddies **** made it finally on 33's but it has very little metal left on the thing and cant weigh half of what your 80 does.

If youre keeping w/ the stock axle and 39's I would redrill the axles and hubs to take 10mm studs from a 100 series and also install more dowel pins to beef up that setup.

Did it sound like this?
