Atlanta isn't where you want to go. Fat Matt's Rib Shack is about the best Atlanta has to offer that I've had, and it pales in comparison to either the original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa or even the best barbecue on earth, Archibald's.

But isnt the Atl BBQ still a different variety from Alabama or South Carolina?
Mustard VS Vinegar? Throw in Memphis based and the only thing in common is the pork....Correct?
 
hey don't get me wrong it was good but there is another level of bbq I believe you can only get down here. I will give you that they make better pizza up north than here, it works both ways.

This guy dishes out some of the best southern style bbq I've eaten in ages! He plain kicks ass! Pork butt smoked over hickory and pecan wood for 14-16 hours. This poor old white boy has had the pleasure of picking his brain every time I go there.

Steve Raichlien is an idiot.
Large dry chunks of hardwood make the world a better place
No sauce to cover your mistakes. Do it right or go home!
Brines are your friend!

I brine AND rub my Boston butts. Holy carp that is good BBQ.

tell ya what Phil, I may be in chicago this winter to visit wife's sister, if I do I'll look you up, you can dazzle me then.

He didn't use those skills until he was established here Sparky, Yankee's win!

Give me a heads up when you're coming in! BBQ will be one of the last things on your mind! I just might be nice and have you pay a visit to the Green One while you're here. You must come bearing gifts though. You don't want to incite the wrath of Gumby. (I hear he likes Sam Adams beer. His only true fault mind you!)
